Eztakes.com is the vendor.  Looks like if you choose to have a DVD delivered it will be a DVD-R.

Why does Trace look like Mr. Rogers?  In a good way, I mean.

In other words, there will be nothing whatsoever to distinguish a physical purchase from a downloaded purchase (or a download obtained through other means, for that matter). No stamped disc image? No nice show-off-able box? So, then, the only people who would have any reason to order a physical DVD would be people in 3rd world countries and other poor suckers who don't have high speed?

People like to have something physical to show proudly on their shelf. Sure, people make their own custom DVD covers here at Rifftrax, but I bet there would be less people who did that if Rifftrax offered downloadable labels that were shrunken versions of the catalogue poster art (though some people will always make their own).

I will already have to modify the disc labels because it looks like they only offer big hub label artwork.  Hopefully they got some good graphic designers /layout artists working on the covers.

I hope they have some themed cover art work to download.   I shudder at the thought of trying to find hi-res material for movies like Brain of Blood  :speechless:

Maybe we can kidnap, force, make him an offer he cannot refuse, ask Josh to create a CT cover set!    8)

More from DVD Wagon:

We make our DVDs on-demand (i.e. as soon as you place an order). The media we use are DVD-R discs, which will play on just about any DVD player (see our Frequently Asked Questions for more information).

We will also print label art work right on the DVD surface. We will then mail the DVD to you in a standard DVD mailer. Because our mailers are simple and inexpensive, we can keep our costs and prices as low as possible.

So, looks like the DVD-R will be stamped with art work (or at least stamped with something) and either we can create our own covers or, hopefully, the main site will have artwork for us.

Some folks at the MST3K discussion board down loaded their download manager and, based on tests of download speed, think it will take around an hour to download the full movie....... assuming you have broadband that is.

BathTub

Pretty sure I read there will be covers from somewhere. Since getting it mailed to you will just be a DVDr I think I just download it.

I can see hundreds of MSTIES hitting the site all at once trying to download!    Holy Network issues Batman!    Think I will get the DVD-R for the first few.

BathTub

The site distributes lots of stuff, I really don't think they are shaking in their boots.

SaucyRossy

I had never heard of the site until today......they are going to have a lot of people on it come monday though.

I don't think the number of people wanting to download a full dvd image is going to be that insane.

However I do sincerely hope they don't region restrict it, browsing through the titles I see a bunch that are, and that would suck.

Well, if you're going the download route, you can get around that if you're willing to waste a disc (or have a re-writable disc). Just burn it to one disc, and then re-rip it to your hard drive, re-encode it, burn it to a new disc, and BAM - DRM / region free.

No you misunderstood. People providing content to EZtake can restrict sales to certain geographical zones, I can't download something for NA only. Nothing to do with any DRM.

Anyway tested out the Download Manager and got my account all set up and working fine.

Ah, now I see.

Well, that's stupid. All it will do if they restrict what region you can download from is to send people straight to torrent sites. :P
