Giving RiffTrax as gifts

Well, I just found out about RiffTrax a few days ago, and immediate reaction was "Excellent".  My second reaction was "Christmas is solved!"   I've got a lot of friends for whom a personally-selected ten-pack of RiffTrax would be the absolutely perfect gift.  Indeed, just telling them of the existence of RiffTrax would be a great gift.  Plus, I like the deep-meta-osity of moving beyond giving DVDs as gifts, to giving DVD commentary tracks as gifts.  Thus, in the spirit of the season, I'd like to give you guys a large amount of money.  However, you don't seem to make it too easy to actually give RiffTrax to someone.  What's the best way of doing so?  One possibility is to do the downloads myself and burn them onto CDs.  Probably the safest, but a bit of a hassle.  Another would be to create gift accounts for them, and a card with the username/password.   Very easy for me, but not very safe, and it makes for a bit more work on the recipients part.  The best way would be for you all to support a "gift this track" option, like ITunes does, where I would pay and they would be emailed download and use instructions.  Hint, hint.

Did I mention it would be a large amount of money?

Seriously, guys, what's the best way to do this.

I've given quite a few gift certificates out to people who I think would be interested, or for birthdays and such. It's just with the new shopping cart system that has been installed it's one of the things still being updated. I can't imagine it being long there is another thread on gift certificates and they mentioned that you can still contact them to do it manually in the meantime. Hopefully torgosPizza should be able to swing by and give you are more solid time line.

We should have our gift certificates back online just in time for the holidays. Thanks for your patience.

Excellent.  Are the gift certificates of the form "Here's X dollars to spend at the RiffTrax store?" or "Here's the second Star Wars trilogy, Reign of Fire, and Transformers, because Dave thought you'd like them"?

Yeah you basically can purchase dollars that will be good towards a purchase.

What'll happen is, if you send a certificate to someone not already a member, it creates an account for them, and emails them with the details (as well as the information on their certificate). The next time they login, it says "You have xx dollars in gift certificates" when they go to the Checkout screen. That amount is automatically deducted from their purchase. And there is an option to pay the entire thing with their certificate, if the entire thing is covered.

I've pondered the best course of action for gifts too, and it seems the gift certificate route would usually be best.  I've also (in my long hypothetical trains of thought I can't stop if I tried because my job is so freaking boring) thought of making reauthored discs out of the ones I already have and giving them out after making a donation for the appropriate amount to the link on the front page.  Not sure if I'd actually do that though.  Seems odd to plan in advance to use the donate button since it's main purpose is for people who've done wrong by Rifftrax previously.   :P
