Hi there Rifftrax team,

This idea might have been run by you before, but if not... what do you think about offering a monthly or yearly membership? People who join get email updates but also automatically are sent the latest rifftrax, hot off the, er, riffing machine. Special members only offers, maybe a free toaster? What'cha think?

We have plans for this in Version 3 of the website. Check back early next year as we start to announce details.

Where's the upside to that?

There WILL be benefits. Trust me. ;)

Will that include profit sharing and a 401K plan?

Bob: Turkey.

Action Batch:  Woah, let's all mellow out and rap about this.

I think that i had suggested the same thing when i first heard of Rifftrax all those many years ago. The upside is that you don't have to go through the shopping cart every single time you want to buy a Rifftrax. Basically, you could pay a one time fee. Then log into your account and download the files... or have the download links emailed directly to your inbox as they're released.

Plus, many businesses offer incentives for joining as a member. At the very least, you could save a little money on each Rifftrax by subscribing. It's the same deal you get when you subscribe to a magazine, join a book club, a fan club... etc. etc.

As long as you're guaranteed a certain number of tracks. I think a monthly subscription rate could be a great idea... especially for those of us who like to buy each new Rifftrax as they are released.

So there's your upside.

This might be something I'd consider getting in on, but it would change my viewing habits quite a bit.  If I were paying subscription fees I'd make sure i was getting every Rifftrax available to me, which would lead to more dvd purchases.  As it is I've got a "If I see it in the store I'll grab it, but I might not actively search" approach.  It still leads to quite a few buys though because I often have the dvd anyway, but...

I really can't see myself signing up for a membership.  Even if I'm saving a few bucks, I'd rather just buy them at my leisure.  It's not exactly like getting a magazine since you still need to have the movie as well.  Now if they gave you a free movie every month, or a discounted movie or something.  That might do it.  Saving 50 cents each is not gonna do it for me.  But I'm sure lots of people will want to be an ELITE member with a gold card that says your somebody special.  Which is fine.

It's going to be more than that ;)  Stay tuned.

Maybe members can get the Riff 3 days before the rest of the world. THEN you'll see some pickup. :^)

I'd sign up for an autographed photo of Mike's shoes (signed by his shoes, not him.  Although, it looks like everything he signs was signed with his feet :).

Hmm...Wild speculation time:

"With our regular membership you'll have access to all previous and future Rifftrax releases and will be eligible for many special offers on Rifftrax related downloadable product and other merchandise.

Gold membership will get you the same benefits, plus a handy Rifftrax keychain, a new DisembAudio brand toaster, and the chance to be mentioned in an actual riff.

If you qualify for our platinum membership, Mike will come directly to your home once a year and make fun of your family."

With my family, he'd certainly have a lot of material to work with.

Tempting... does he arrive with a greasepaint mustache and smoke a big black cigar?  Otherwise, I'm not interested.

I'd just be happy* with a life-sized cardboard cutout of Mike that can stare mockingly at us at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Maybe he can have a button you can press to make sarcastic comments at will.

*By "happy" I mean really disturbed and creeped out.
