Player doesn't work when running in XP on my Mac

I am running Parallels virtualization software on my mac to run windows, and the Rifftrax Player starts up fine until it finishes loading the .riff file then I get this error:
I'm sure it is a Parallels compatibility issue.  I was gonna try using an external dvd player to play the dvd.  Just in case anybody asks if the player can work this way, it doesn't as far as I can tell.
