Coleman Francis, while not directing, was in Killers from Space and This Island Earth.

Oh, and all the film's he's directed have been rifffed in MST3K.

It blew my mind when I finally saw the "D" in Disney.  Even to this day it takes me awhile.  I always thought is was  some weird symbol.  Especially when the signature is animated.

Shadow

I saw that Cartoon Network is going to air a live action movie based off one of their cartoons called "Ben 10".  I was completely floored when I found out the movie was directed by this man....

I saw the D but always thought it was a strange way to pronounce a word spelled Disnep.

I had a similar sort of thing in that I was amazed when I found out that Walt Disney was an actual person.  I find it kinda weird now...

Plastic Self-Cleaning Duck

Speaking of Disney, my startling realization was when I started to find out some of the "highlights" of Michael Eisner's career prior to his running the Disney Corporation....

  • Personally picked out the script for Star Trek: The Motion Sickness
  • Shelved the script for Fatal Attraction for years saying that the public wouldn't be interested
  • Created "The Brady Bunch Variety Hour"
  • That he did everything he could to screw up Airplane! and didn't think it was funny (per the commentary on the DVD)
  • When he wanted to leave NBC the only person who responded to his resume was Barry "Cancel MST3K" Diller

Talk about failing upward....

Another one I thought of today while listening to the radio....

The actor who played Onslow on "Keeping Up Appearances"....

Provided the voice of Paul in Yellow Submarine!!!!

I don't know how mind bending this is but it certainly still has me perplexed. I was watching Batman '89 this weekend and I just noticed that Joker's henchmen seemed to just materialize out of thin air to fight Batman on the top of that cathedral's bell tower. We see Joker abduct Vicki Vale, but no henchmen following him. And remember Joker did put acid on the bell to cause it to fall so how did those henchmen get there? It wasn't from the chopper Joker radioed because that came after the battle.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Don't know how mind blowing these two are, but one of those "ah, yes, in retrospect, it makes sense" kinda things...

1: Tarantino did an uncredited polish on the script for Crimson Tide. Watch it again, with guys fighting over which version of Silver Surfer is better, privates being forced to drop & give James Gandolfini 20 for not knowing a movie trivia answer, and Washington's "you watch Star Trek?" bit of dialogue to one of the few ensigns he could trust ("I'm Kirk, you're Scotty, I need more power"), and, as I said, ah yes, in retrospect, it makes sense.

2: Having to endure the kids' movie Snow Day (with the grateful exception of seeing older-than-she-looked Emmanuelle Chriqui poking out of her wife-beater), I was struck by how Danny Elfman-esque the score was. In fact I turned to another grownup and said "Hey, Danny Eflman called, he wants his sound back." I found out after the fact that, maybe the reason the score sounded so Elfman-esque was because it was created by former Oingo-Boingo bandmate Steve Bartek.

Uh, they were waiting there already, Joker knew he was going there eventually, he just called the chopper to be dramatic...yeah....that's it, that's the ticket</talkingoutofass>

I was a huge Superman fan as a kid, but I think I only saw the yellow sections of the symbol for years, never figuring out there was a huge fucking S.  I try to do that now and it's just impossible. I think I was  retarded...maybe I still am.  Have you seen my baseball?<BR>
