meh...amusing at best.

I will probably put this in my Bottom 10 list

My full take posted and I will have my free preview posted later today
free preview is now ready.

Pak-Man

So the second half of the movie was just him seeing himself in the future while he frequently saw into the future? I know his powers were amplified becauae he was with whatshername, but  if he kept on seeing 2 minutes into the future, wouldn't he be able to see himself 2 minutes into the future seeing himself 2 minutes into the future until he sees where the bomb was?

And what went wrong? We follow him as he skillfully leads the FBI to rescue Biel, he says, "I messed up." and they all get blown up. Was the mistake that he went after the girl instead of looking for the fleepin' NUCLEAR BOMB!? Was the mistake that he dragged the FBI along on the rescue mission when THEY could have been looking for the bomb and he could just waltz past any traps or bullets or ANYTHING and rescue the girl himself? And THEN, the movie says, "Hey, you know everything you just saw for the last 45 minutes? Doesn't matter. Didn't happen." And how do you see things in the future that you prevent from happening to begin with?

And let's go back BEFORE the movie went senile on us. In the diner when he meets the girl. He goes through like- 5 different possible futures where he tries to pick up the girl. In every one of those futures, he gets to the table. When he tries to do it for real, she glances up at him and tells him not to bother before he can even ALTER any of the possible futures.

This whole movie was like watching someone play Dragon's Lair for 2 hours... Poorly. :^)

Who was blowing up a nuclear bomb?  What was their motivation?  How did they find out about this plucky magician with egg timer powers?

Was this a script for '24" that was too off the wall for even them?

I really *wanted* to like this riff. Women are not exactly well represented as guest riffers around here. But oddly, the chemistry that exists between Mike and Kevin was notably absent.

Well, he wasn't threatening to kick her in the groin. But I was able to live without that for one RiffTrax.   ;D They just had a different kind of chemistry, and I really enjoyed it.

Love the "egg timer powers," bettertomorrowamy.  :D

And does the FBI show up to investigate EVERY failed casino shooting, looking for psychics? :^)

Wow, that was some of the WORST acting I've ever seen Nick Cage do.  Seriously, first Wicker Man where he inexplicably had his intensity turned up to 10 and now Next, which was apparently a 'coffee-free' set.

And the plot...oy.  No motivation, no logic....bleh

I liked the idea of being able to see 2 min the the future...basically being able to always pick the 'best case' senario...I wouldn't mind being able to do that.  But there seemed to be no down-side, no effort, no consequences....heroes are interesting because of their flaws...not because of what they can do.

Wow. Okay. Talk about a good premise gone horribly wrong. Next had potential in terms of the plot. But absolutely every aspect of this film falls apart about ten minutes into it. How disapointing. Alas, Bladerunner remains as the only good movie adaptation of Phillip K. Dick's work. I wish he could come back from the dead and eat the brains of every producer/director who's ever touched his material. Except for Ridley Scott, of course.

I actually like Nicholas Cage. But I like him a lot better with less hair. And he was really creepy in this movie.

The riffing was pretty good. Nothing memorable, however. A few good lines here and there. I dunno. Just seemed a little off, but it's probably just me. I'd give it another watch, but then I'd have to watch Next again. And I don't want that.

Tony Farms AKA Puma Man

I saw the script for Next, and this was what Cris Johnson was supposed to look like:

Mid-twenties, jaded, rebellious, handsome as a statue, Cris radiates a serene, if somewhat scruffy, charisma.

How did that turn into Nick Cage?

How did Mike and the Mrs. do?

Boy, that sounds like an awesome title for a family sitcom starring Mike and Bridget.  ;)
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

I don't get it. I'll admit (as a strait guy), I think Nick Cage in his prime is average looking. But in this movie, its almost like they tried to make him look as ugly as possible. And in particular, his hair.

I want to be able to see the future events of doing a certain action. I'd hit casinos and play lottos, then retire on the money...

These are the types of movies I'd like to see riffed even more ... terrible big studio abominations that did no business on initial release.  More Firewall!  More Wicker Man!  More Dr. Moreau!

I thought the duo did great.  It is different than the trio or two of the guys, but it is also different with Willy Wonka, and that was a great riff.

They have a different vibe.  But it is a fun and witty one that was a joy,  And they worked a tag team on this film, just like they did to Grey's Anatomy.  And both deserved the trashing.  The feminine voice in some of these riffs is a great addition.

Mike, Kevin, and Bill are iconic.  But this sort of variation works as well.   :highfive:
