How did Mike and the Mrs. do?

Tony Farms AKA Puma Man

This was an all-timer.

Easily one the shittiest, most ridiculous films I've ever seen, no hyperbole.

And Mike and Bridget were great.  Nick Cage needs to retire (unless he's trying to break some kind of bad movie record), and Jessica Biel needs to learn to act.  But, I'll give Julianne Moore credit, she had 'perpetually pissed off and constipated FBI agent' down pat.

The film was it's own Riftrax almost.

This was a good one. I never saw the Grey's Anatomy one, so it was cool to finally hear a riff with Bridget. One problem: the verbal and physical abuse we love so much with Mike, Kevin, and/or Bill was mostly absent. Oh well.

As for the movie:
The one thing this film lacked, as was pointed out in the riff, was modivation. Why the hell was anyone doing ANYTHING? It's never clear. Why did Cage run? Why did he get Beil involved in the first place? Why was Moore wasting precious time and resources to chase down a guy with a two minute head start? Even if she catches him, it was only through jump cuts that knowing something 2 minutes in advance became useful. Why were the terrorists doing what? Why was Beil so important to them? And why couldn't she get that vest off? I have trouble with ties, but if it's packed with C-4, I'll manage SOMETHING.

Oh, and exactly what purpose did strapping him down and prying open his eyelids serve? I mean seriously?

And why did he 'need' to get shot, since the helicopter killed the guy five seconds later?  They obviously knew where he was already, and he couldn't call in the hit regardless.

All are good points.  And please, somebody...Setting the watch ahead at the Motel.  Why???

But yeah.  The terrorists pretty much say "if the FBI wants to track him down, then so do we."  Even at the expense of not getting the hell out of the way of the exploding bomb.

I really never have seen a movie unravel so much at the slightest examination of its logic.

Just think of the plot:  The FBI, in order to prevent a nuclear bomb from exploding, find their only hope to be a Las Vegas magician that they somehow figured out can see two minutes into the future.

I guess they figured, 'after that plot, we bother with any kind of logic during the film?'

I guess it all gets explained in the 3rd act - which we never get to see (and is that a good thing or not, I'm not sure).

I think that ability would have been a good setup about a P.I. in Vegas, but sadly it can never happen as Cage has killed it forever.

What was with that train?  I swear I could have made a more realistic one on my computer (and I don't have any of the software you'd need to do it)

All in all a great track and nice break from the Trio.

One last thing:

The rifftrax was good, but it couldn't overpower how bad this movie is.

When will Hollywood finally admit that you CANNOT adapt Phillip K. Dick stories into movies?
They're way too complex and basically insane to be made into films.

I know some people love Blade Runner, but I've never really got it.
Minority Report is a good first half, but the action movie-ish second half hurts it.
Imposter is bad, and I've never seen Paycheck or A Scanner Darkly.

Mr. and Mrs. Nelson did pretty good. I wouldn't mind seeing more Rifftrax from them. Or maybe mix up the group, say some riffs with Mike, Kevin, and Bridget and then some with Mike, Bill, and Bridget. Something just to get a female voice in the riffs occasionally.
All in all, definitely worth the $2.99.
As for my thoughts on the movie itself: Painfully Inept. As for Nicholas Cage, he's in like 3 movies a year these days. This one he was obviously just phoning it in.

Now, the FBI knows (for some reason) that this guy can see two minutes into the future.  And the best part of the film to me is that they didn't just laugh her out of the room when she came up with this ridiculous plan.

I still can't figure out how seeing two minutes into the future could help find a nuclear bomb.  Even if he knew where it was, how could they get there and disarm it before it went off?

And why would the Evil Europeans care one way or the other?  They should be happy the FBI is wasting time with this guy.  And why in the blue hell were they trying to blow up Los Angeles?  I totally missed that.

I made my girlfriend watch it with me last night. I woke up at 3AM, she was gone. She's still not here. I don't think she's coming back. She left a note, something about a pier-walk or whatever. I dunno I wasn't really paying attention. I guess after seeing Next last night details just don't seem important to me.

Great riff though. Bridgette is a lot funnier than I remember her on MST. Or maybe she's always been funny, but her characters on MST were not. Point is, I think she's funny.

Bridgette, would you call my girlfriend and try to get her back for me? Thanks!

Once again, Bridget rocks!  Please bring her back soon, guys!

I really *wanted* to like this riff. Women are not exactly well represented as guest riffers around here. But oddly, the chemistry that exists between Mike and Kevin was notably absent. And - sorry - but the comic timing was not up to par either.

So - I would be thrilled to see more women as guest riffers, but I wouldn't buy another riff with Bridget.
