Also, this has always looked terrible...  Jabba looks like he's positioned at least 2 foot closer to the camera than Solo.  It's like a bad forced perspective shot from the old "Land of the Giants" TV show...

This is the scene where Solo walks behind Jabba and "steps on his tail". It looks stupid. But I remember watching how they made this scene and they had no other option as the scene was shot before they knew what Jabba would look like. Solo is actually talking to another actor and they just covered it up with CGI later.

An easy way around that would have been to simply have Jabba turn his back to the camera (then no need for the tail stomp).

Or better yet, leave it out totally...

We all know the real reason why that whole was included was to give Boba Fett 2 more seconds of screen time. ;)

I though the stepping on the tail bit was funny. I definitely liked the updated version of Jabba as opposed to the first incarnation. Even though Lucas always wanted to finish the sequence, It was unnecessary. Nothing was said that was not already said in the scene with Greedo.

I also thought the "Huttese" spoken by Jabba sounded quite dumb. It always sound better in ROTJ, both the words he speaks and the sound of his voice.

Pak-Man

Jabba's my favorite alien from either trilogy (I just think he's an awesome crimelord) so more Jabba's always been fine with me. :^)

jar jar is what i voted for.  but damn this is a close one.  too freaken close if you ask me.  but jar jar did ruin an entire movie series from my childhood id have to go with him.  Especially since tuckers break out role was as a crappy supporting charectar in friday.  speaking of flat racial sterotypes.

Chris Tucker.  I think he kills what is essentially a decent movie in the Fifth Element (though I get it's probably not entirely his fault), whilst Phantom Menace has a lot of other things wrong with it, aside from Jar Jar.

Tucker's character is so stupid, it makes me laugh at him. While Jar Jar does not make me laugh at all...in fact Jar Jar makes me angry.   >:(

we wouldnt like you when your angry?

I love that angry smiley :  >:(  >:(  >:(

The problem with Jar Jar is that he was used too much for comic effect in the film.  His character should have been a bit goofy, but still heroic.  Instead, he was used as a clown even at the very end during the Naboo battle.  He could have very well been the Han Solo for the prequel trilogy, an action hero - which is what the prequel trilogy was missing - the non-Jedi male hero.  But instead they made him into an idiot.

Agree'd...its an understatement, but agree'd.

I never bought into the "racial sterotype" thing.   I think this is a case of "see what you want to see."  JarJar can be hated for many, many reasons, but I don't think he's meant to be one race or another.   Lucas hasn't shown a tendency towards this in the past, and there were several black characters in the Star Wars universe who were not treated as thus.  It doesn't make sense that he would create a Stepin Fetchit character and then turn around and hire Samuel L. Jackson as a highly respected Jedi master.

Given that JarJar was born well within the age of PC, I sincerely doubt that this was his intent or a subconscious thing-- not to mention that a racially insensitive character might harm merchandise sales, heaven forbid.

I'm sure Hooper-X would disagree ;)

Mace Windu was a Nubian God who was destroyed by a Nazi poster-boy and a feeble, crusty old white man.  That's what you get for trusting the Devil (aka Whitey).

No closeted Kevin Smith fans here.
Snowhead the Blue Reindeer gave me all the presents in the world.

But Mace was smart enough to figure out what the Emporer was trying to do with Whiny Skywalker Sr. in the room.  Anakin was the punk in that scene.  Mace was noble to the end; it took two Sith to beat him.
