I shouldn't respond to trolls, but I don't want folks to get confused by sarcasm_made_Easy.  For the record, please note that I quoted http://www.rifftrax.com: "hilarious DVD commentaries of Michael J. Nelson - Star of the legendary Mystery Science Theater 3000!"   The quote was not a product of my "vehemence", but rather a direct quote from http://www.rifftrax.com.

Sarc has been here since the beginning, and I'm pretty sure that home page copy has been pretty much the same this whole time. Which is why it's odd to me that he wouldn't recognize the quote. Maybe he only visits the forum? Anyway...

We are working on some tools to help with the syncing and volume issues you have brought up. Regrading the long rants adn the going towards the "dark side" - I can only say this is because it's the three (or one, or two) guys riffing, and not their characters. They also don't have a room of writers giving them jokes - this is all right from their brains. Love it or hate it, they are keeping it pure. It's okay if you don't like or agree with all of it - but there are even mst3k episodes that some of us can't stand to watch more than once.

In any event, welcome to the forums. I'm not sure whether this topic belongs in "feedback" because that seems to be what you were going for, but I'll leave it here for now. Happy riffing!

I totally respect what mdibiofuel is saying here.
I don't think we (fans) need to like everything that RiffTrax gives us. There still seems to be this perception that just because Mike is doing RiffTrax, and he might be reading what we write in this forum, then we'd better kiss ass here.

I think it is our job as fans to let RiffTrax know what we like and don't like. Otherwise how do they know if they are keeping us happy/doing a good job. I find that people tend to do some ass kissing around here because the Admins/Mods participate with us in the forum. I, for one, am not affraid to say I don't like a particular RiffTrax, no matter who reads my post. I find that if you talk to people away from this forum, they tend to be a little more honest about how they feel about RiffTrax, then if you ask them here.

Don't get me wrong, I love RiffTrax and I've been here since day one. But, I *really* respect mdibiofuel's feelings and I wish more people had the balls to say how they actually felt. Whats that saying I heard once..."Only dead fish follow the stream".

In conclusion, I'd like RiffTrax to keep up the good work, because overall I truly think they have a great product. But lets respect each others opinions and be honest not only to ourselves but to RiffTrax too.
I'd also like you to ask yourself this the next time you watch a RiffTrax: "am I laughing/enjoying this RiffTrax because its truly funny? or, am I laughing at this because I don't want to be disappointed/disappoint and I want to go with the flow? "

Mike's commentaries have been consistently great in my opinion. I prefer Rifftrax to MST3k ... any attempt to be 'more like mst3k' would be a step backwards.

The only thing I don't like about Rifftrax right now is the repeted jokes. (Running jokes?) A shnappi reference, a few fart jokes, and others. It makes each riff less distinct.

sarcasm_made_Easy

just for the record i understood that it was rifftrax own quote he was refferring to.  i even mentioned it here.

QuoteThey seem to be very monetarily successful. And to refer to his past job as legend is strechting the truth.  or at very least stretching the definition of the word.  the battle of the alamo has become legend.  teh battle of thermapole (sic) is legend.  The holy grail is a legend.  Mike nelson is really funny and had a funny niche show back in the day.  not really a legend.  However its no big deal THEM doing this stretching as its a common  marketing practice.  So common you should be used to it.

My point was that he shouldnt be angry because they refferred to him as legend.  or for him to act all legendary.  I still love mst3k and always will but man im not gonna get all worked up when mike is "off" his game.  for example i hated the fifth element riff and x-men was kinda tedious in my opinion.  but hey who cares.

im not a troll,  at best im an ogre (which explains the spelling and grammar) im not the one who has made three posts to complain.  ive made 6000 POSTS to complain :)

You get that much access to the internet on "vacation"?

sarcasm_made_Easy

you do when your job is to fix the base internet connections :)

I suspect that Mike and company specifically riff over expository dialogue just to bug us. :^)

In a perfect world where copyright laws were more liberal, Rifftrax could release their riffs with the original audio synced with the Rifftrax and the volume would be lowered during the riff and raised again to normal.  That's not going to happen though, so deal with it.

Learn how to mix your own audio, or put up with the limitations of the format.

I'm so disappointed in you... your daily average is down from 47 to 46 posts per day. Slacker.  ;)

For the record, I agree with gammer. Some are better than others, but it's like sex... when it's good it's really good.... and when it's bad... it's still pretty good...  :D Some are definitely better than others in my opinion, but I think it's like anything else, people have different tastes. I'm sure some of my favorites are not widely enjoyed, and some that I didn't care for as much may be popular with many. It just doesn't matter. As long as they keep cranking them out, there will be plenty for everyone.

holy crap 46 a day.  thats insanely high.  im arely topping out at 17 even at my worst i was never over 24.  oh well.

the problem i think we will eventually have is that there will be so many no one will know where to start.  I hope the small previews are enough to help guide people.

You know, watching this thread progress has kind of been like losing faith in democracy only to see it finally work the way it's supposed to -- and work well, I might add.  Thank you for ultimately honoring my opinion and my passion and making me feel welcomed.  Just last night I listened to the LOST Rifftrax and when I heard the Rifftrax theme music, I got goosebumps --  that makes 3 film-based tunes that cause me to lacrimate: The BattleStar Galactica theme (the old TV show, pre-RDM), MST3K, and Rifftrax.  OK, and sometimes when I hear the old Buck Rogers theme. Is that a new Rifftrax theme around the corner?  I can't wait to hear it...does anyone know how that search is progressing?

I never realized that the Rifftrax crew (and The Film Crew) don't have a room full of writers like MST3K's heyday, so more credit to Mike and crew for provoking uncontrolled sniggering on my part.  And since there is hardly /any/ silence in modern mainstream filmes, I understand the need to talk over dialog because there are fewer opportunities to insert a clean riff in a moment (or moments) of silence.  House on Haunted Film was a riot, and it was full of silent bits that Mike took full advantage of.  Compare that to Independance Day...I now understand how difficult it must be.

I know it's really hard work after learning how many times the crew actually watches the riffed film (6-8 times), but I never would have concluded that Mike and his cohorts were without a roomful of writers, because most of the time the comments are dead-on accurate and mostly funny.  And /please/ don't give up the running jokes -- I loved it when the MST3K crew would spit out applicable throw-backs.

"Trumpy...?"

I now understand that things are different from MST3K, and perhaps not to my taste at times -- but I always laugh at fart jokes.  And I understand thanks to you folks that the crew is not "in character" but "in person", for Rifftrax especially, though I see the Film Crew assuming characters during the breaks.  "But what about our core competencies?" asks Bill after his lunch gets eaten by Mike and Kevin (I can't believe that Bill is that corporate).

Keep up the good work and the good posts.
