You want wrong? How about this one:

Irreversible

Try that one on for size!

I did try it on, and they are correct, it's not reversible.  The seams show and it's not very comfortable.  And plus the inside isn't very water replant.

Tarantulas

Didn't plant well the first time?  Then REPLANT it! ;)

Darn spellcheck.  I deserve that.  Though I shall get my revenge someday.

But I must say that I love Firefox 2.0's built in spellcheck for forums and emails.  Works just like any word processing spellcheck where it underlines misspelled words, then just right click to fix.   I highly recommend it, especially for some of you.

Man, SpellCheck would take half the fun out of this forum, especially Tarantulas' posts.

I actually liked this movie...the rape and beat down was a little rough, but it was an interesting movie.

I agree.  Those moments were intentionally provocative.  The rape scene is one of the most harrowing in cinema, purely because the camera does nothing during the event - it stands there, completely passive, witnessing the attack just like the audience does.  I think Monica Bellucci is one of the bravest actresses I've ever seen on camera.  Her role in Malena is also a good one.

I have to respectfully disagree with that.  There is more to lampoon in cheese-fests, but I find myself riffing away at good movies too.  For example, Karate Kid II (you may not agree, but "I like it very much!" :D ) In the course of errors dubbing from old VHS recording to DVD, I ended up watching it 3-4 times.  The last two times were a riff-fest.

I'm guessing that in doing Plan 9 from Outer Space, Mike has seen it more than once (maybe 20 times - he strikes me as something of a masochist. :) )  By sheer repetition, one can catch new flaws or add new jokes over time.  The end result is a riff-fest I look forward to checking out.

I personally think there are enough uncomfortable pauses and over the top acting to do another classic: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Gotta admit it though... II was the best of the original crew movies...  6 isn't bad though...

Part 5? LAME-Os HOOOOOOO!

Since this was also asked in the X-Men section, I'll simply quote myself:

The history of riffing movies has been that these are bad movies that deserve ridicule. You can't ignore the whole MST3K pretext here. Rifftrax is clearly an outgrowth from MST3K. So, I would hope that MN is not riffing movies that he actually believes are good. That would strike me as simply malevolent. You don't make fun of something you really value and enjoy. It would be like making fun of your wife just to be making fun of her. That's mean.

I often make fun of my wife, but then I do her up proper and all is forgiven.

Actually, MST3K has historically done movies that were also easy to get. That's why they can do a little less obscure movies for Rifftrax (no royalties = less overhead). That's why they used Night of the Living Dead. The copyright was invalidated for some strange reason (I forget).

Remember, this isn't the first time that the "greats" have been riffed. They used to do those Oscar specials (remember "I'm Leonardo DiCaprio" from Good Will Hunting?) They even did a little snippet of Boron in one of their Summer Movie Blockbuster specials.

If you made it your explicit goal to crack jokes about your wife for two solid hours every week, I doubt she'd forgive you. I wouldn't forgive my girlfriend if she started doing that. Who wants to be with someone who treats you like crap?

I maintain that riffing on something you truly value and consider good is vicious. You should treat badly that which is bad. And you should praise that which is good. It's a matter of personal justice.

To assume that everyone LOVES X-men and thinks of it as a classic Sci-fi movie is just wrong.

Um, I never said that everyone LOVES it, and I definitely never called it a classic.  So please read more carefully before you go putting words in my/other people's mouths.

I know a lot of people who dislike the movie -- but the general consensus is that it is a good sci-fi film.  It was well-received by critics and made a lot of money (which is not a barometer of quality, but still).  And I know it's not perfect, by any stretch.

I watched it and laughed, but thought it was the worst of the Rifftrax so far -- and it goes back to my feeling that there's a lot worse stuff out there to make fun of.

You're still assuming that RiffTrax only riffs bad movies.
No where does it say that RiffTrax riffs good or bad movies. They just riff movies...period.
Remember the motto: "we dont make movies, we make fun of them"
That to me implies they make fun of good and bad movies.

The only opinion I have on this subject is that I feel bad movies provide more material for Mike to work with. I'd prefer Mike to riff on movies that are cheesy, like Road House and Cocktail, but never once did Rifftrax promise that to me/us.

We all need to relax a little on the movies that we "feel" that should or shouldnt be riffed. And if a movie that you like gets the rifftrax treatment, dont buy it.

Another Rifftrax motto is: "Some movies have it coming." This implies that some movies don't deserve the Rifftrax treatment. Thus, there are bad (riff-worthy) and good (not riff-worthy) movies.

But it's all in good fun. Have you never "roasted" anyone? If you have the "it's vicious" attitude, then NO movies should be riffed, since the people who put together even the "bad" movies truly believe that they are quality films. You think Britney wasn't proud of Crossroads, or Swayze of Roadhouse?

Besides, the Rifftrax "motto" is more of a catch-phrase and probably not meant to suggest a strict guideline. Also, "some movies have it coming" is so vague that it can apply to any movie. That's not to say that those movies are bad, nor do they riff on them in the first viewing. When I first saw The Karate Kid, I cheered for Daniel-San like everyone else, but by the tenth viewing, it became a riff-fest.
I still like X-Men and Halloween. As a matter of fact, I like them quite a bit more now, since I can enjoy them on a whole new level, as well as the original intent.

mrbasehart

I think the question of if a film is worthy or not should only apply is if the film would be funny with a rifftrax.  Whether that the movie is good or bad on its own should be mostly irrelevant.
