I felt The island was good for its CGI in parts. However I feel clonus horror was a better overall film and notably more plausible. Bay tries to make the plot plausible by making it really futuristic, but we could make clone farms right now, and probably more low key would be better than the huge city bay depicts.

Nah, it's the Stargate, obviously.

Nope, that's Cheney's fortress of solitude.

I read that as Chesney.
That might explain where the one-and-only has been for the past bazillion years.

sarcasm_made_Easy

its also where they keep walt disney and elvis.

bettertomorrowamy

and where they store Cheney's dead hunting buddies.

lmao I think that was my favorite line in ID4. "It's just Dick Cheney showing up for work"

So then Cheyenne mountain contains
aliens
clones and alien clones
terminators
Cheney's death vault
UFO's
the moon landing set
the missile pods for commercial jets
the alien super gun that shot JFK
all done under close supervision by Elvis and Disney.

The island may have been bad, but Transformers in contrast had a lot of great action, clever lines and some of the best characters that CGI has ever brought to life.

Alot of great action!? Landsakes man that's a bunch of bollocks if I ever heard it. I don't consider blurry shots of guys screaming or even more blurry CGI shots of robots fighting up close and in shaky cam good action at all. It's a clusterf*** of a mess I say. Give me the action of both James Cameron's Terminator movies or 300 for more comprehensible action.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

I rather think of it as his Fortress of Drollitude.

The action was what I like about transformers. I actually thought it was really crisp and I could follow the sequences. Admittedly me having drank tequila might have had an influence, but I did see it in a very good theater. I do see it as becoming something just like independence day. Liked it when it came out, but becomes a guilty pleasure in the long run.

And this is my major beef with this not even baked Transformers movie from Bay. It wasn't conceived with longevity in mind. It was created to cash in on nostalgic adults who watched the 80's cartoon religiously, like yours truly, and the brain dead teenagers who would watch anything peddled to them with discrimination. I hate to say it but movies of this sort, like Independance Day and Armageddon, while being big, box office heavy weights, just cannot sustain a strong repeat viewing audience...that is unless there's a really good Riff Trax for it. ;) I tell you, the ones who suffer from this sterile, corporate perception of entertainment are we, the Sci Fi fans. Does anyone else find it scary that Metropolis, a critically panned theatrical flop, has outlived many of the silent films of its era that were more popular? I mean hello!!! Beyonce Knowles, who is amn R&B icon of this generation created a whole stage performance for an awards show based on Metropolis, and specifically the robot from that movie. Can anyone really say with great reassurance Transformers (Live Action), Armageddon, and Independance Day will have such a strong core of fans 80 years from now like Metropolis has?

I am sure Transformers will have that strong core of fans in the future. Unlike Independence day and Armageddon, Transformers already has a legacy that is already going on a quarter of a century old. If I live to be that old, I'll still be watching.
