Some people are analyzing this like it's there masters thesis.  Jesus Christ on a Cruch.  I think it's a great idea.  Short, Sweat, and a way for them to get a company to sponsor prizes.  Not to mention that but it also might be able to get Rifftrax some extra attention outside of the Misties.  All you would need is a 30 second or 1 minute commercial, there's tons of super bowl commercials that long.  Just pick an old one from Coke or Pepsi or something.

If it could be done like the "Playstation Underground" thing, that would work.  To riff on a 30 second commercial of Mandy Patinkin trying to sell some heart medication is just plain silly.

This is a great idea and all, but i think it would be cooler if they made fun of music videos.  Imagine Mike and Kevin sitting around watching the latest Justin Timberlake single.

I'm not gonna tackle the sheer logistical problem of matching Mike & Kevin's naturally-shaped heads with Beavis and Butthead's elongated, irregular domes!!

Commercials are something you go to for riffs... NOT something you riff.

Do you get more mileage out of "Oh no, Mrs. Burke! I thought you were Dale!" or the 30 second Grapenuts commercial that spawned it?

Do you get more mileage out of "Where's the beef!?!?"  or the 30 second Wendy's commercial?

The magic is in the reference... not the actual thing being referenced.

Could be an interesting idea, in fact we were working on some commercial riffs today that turned out pretty damn well.  Hopefully we'll have them up some time on Friday...
