Douglin

Also Leonard Nemoy is in:

Quote"People have been asking me why I'm doing this movie, and I think the answer is obvious, we have a great director, a wonderful script, and a wonderful young actor playing Spock, so ... it was logical.

The gave him a check he couldn't refuse.

Presenting Zachary Quinto:

Sooooo....any guy with a long face and brown hair is a Nimoy look-a-like.

::)

And what the Hell are they going to do about those eyebrows if he's working on "Heroes" at the same time?

Looks like Spock to me:

Anyway, is looking just like the original actor more important than being able to play the part?

As I understand it, Quinto's not a regular on the show. It shouldn't be too hard to work around a recurring character's schedule.

It's just that any movie like this (IMHO) ends up looking more like people playing dress-up than actually acting out a story.  And the less an actor looks like the original character (Quinto doesn't have the bone structure of Nimoy) the worse that seems to get

And after V'Ger, ENT and those last two movies, I have no faith in Paramount.  I don't care who they've brought in.  I doubt he has final cut or say on anything.

Blueguy

That's some fine casting.  I'd much rather see an almost unknown actor play these parts then some well known actor.

RVR II

Maybe they'll cross a few lines to make me Want to go see it..

Nimoy to reprise Spock role in Trek film
By SANDY COHEN
AP Entertainment Writer

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Leonard Nimoy isn't through with Spock yet. The 76-year-old actor will don his famous pointy ears again to play the role in an upcoming "Star Trek" film due out Christmas 2008.

"This is really going to be a great movie. And I don't say things like that lightly," Nimoy told a gathering of 6,500 fans Thursday at Comic-Con, the nation's largest pop-culture convention.

He greeted the crowd with a Vulcan salute.

Nimoy was joined by the newly named young Spock, "Heroes" star Zachary Quinto, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Nimoy.

Both Spocks were introduced by the film's director and co-producer, J.J. Abrams.

"This is a series I loved as a kid," Abrams said, acknowledging that he was "more of a 'Star Wars' kid than a 'Star Trek' kid."

"This matters so much to so many people," he said. "I'm honored to be here and do this."

While the character of Captain Kirk has yet to be cast, Abrams said that William Shatner, who played the role in the original TV series, would likely also have a part in the film.

"It has to be worthy, of him and of you," Abrams told fans, adding that production is slated to begin in November.

One fan asked Nimoy what he thought of his "replacement."

"It was logical," the actor said dryly. He then closed with Spock's classic line: "Live long and prosper."

I can dig up quotes from the TNG actors saying how brilliant Nemesis was before it came out....and admitting how lousy it was afterward.

Actors have to promote the movies they're in - it's in their contracts.   Sometimes, the promotion department will tell them what to say on the Red Carpet of the preview or wherever.

And John Logan considers himself a "Trekkee"......look how well that turned out.

I believe Star Trek XI is to Lavatorium Anatidea as Transformers is to Lady Decpticon.

Or anything else Trek-related until anyone and everyone involved with the last two series and the last four movies are gone from Paramount.

They turned the Franchise into crap.  It needs to heal.
