Just goes to show how invisible he was to me in RoF. I didn't even recognize him as being in it, let alone any other movie I've ever seen. Crazy.

I owe Butler an old grudge for getting cast in the Phantom movie. (I still have my old "Michael Crawford for Phantom" T-shirt around here, I think.) He's officially invisible to me too!  :)

By the way, as Dave Barry would say, Poorly Concealed Homoerotic Eye Candy would be an excellent name for a rock band.

Yeah, the audiences I saw it with (twice) really enjoyed it.  Just wish our local Imax had shown it.  Darn family values!

My theory is that Star Wars episodes 1 and 2 aren't movies.  They are screenplays that were mistakenly made into movies because the real movie that Lucas wanted to make was Episode 3.  Episode 3 could have been cut in half.  The last half with the battle between Obi Wan and Annakin should have been created as an addition to Star Wars: A New Hope when Lucas did the touch-ups of the 3 original movies.

As far as "Past the Point of No Return" is concerned -- Butler is WAY better than Crawford. I think the other songs could go either way, though the Phantom parts for All I Ask of You belong solely and compeltely to Crawford....

Also - Rossum is a fantastic Christine.... better than Brightman should Brightman perform it in her current state.

Crawford -- you can tell he's got way more theater training than Butler whereas...

Butler is a commanding cinema presence as Phantom....

My biggest grudge for the movie is that it changes the original lyrics to many of the songs =(
Still love the movie though!

Aw Hebs - no love for Butler as Phantom at /all/ ??

I gotta say, I really did like him.  I watched a handful of interviews with him, and I was really pissed that Emmy Rossum kept intentionally stealing his thunder.  He really deserved more love for that role.  His acting is really natural, and I think it would be easy to ham the Phantom up.

Rossum stole his thunder in interviews you say? That makes me sad =(

Which interviews?

Lol - here's the Banderas-afied "Badass" version of Phantom! XD

Sorry J, I know you like her, but in the magazine interviews she gave and I saw some YouTube clips of the cast on The View - she is just very spoiled.  I get the feeling that in person she is always "on" - you know, the kind of girl that wants to make sure everyone is getting her best 'side'.

On the View, while Butler was talking, one of the women stuck her hand in his face pointing to Rossum to sing!  That called for a Stephanie Tanner "How rude!"

Banderas is so bad-ass, I could totally believe if the Phantom up and took residence in Barcelona instead of Paris.  "El Phantom Mariachi"...

Yeah, and if he carried a spanish guitar/machine gun combination, it would be awesome.   ;D

PS JP- Freakin' AWESOME poster man! You have totally outdone yourself this time!

People seem to dig the poster JP.  It would be totally sweet if you could buy a copy of it and then get it signed by the guys.  We should organize some massive event, then arrange to have them all at it so that we could make that happen...You know, one of these days...

Interview on THE VIEW>>

Now - I've seen lots of gals act like her in a situation where they were singled out in front of people, and I am gonna say that she may come off a certain way during different times cuz she's really nervous about being singled out. Dat's my story =)
