How come the Enterprise doesn't crash into cloaked ships?

This has bugged me for a long time  ???

They're going at warp 8, and never crash into cloaked Klingon ships.

Well, I know when I was on Nuclear Submarines, The Sonar was Very sensitive so as to detect anything & everything moving in the oceans..
But in the world of Star Trek, Guess they've got pretty good helmsman avoiding those invisible ships out there :P

Unless they use standard travel lines, the chances of running into someone in space are pretty minimal. Also, doesn't warp move you, I dunno, under the fabric of reality?

If it was that big a problem in the future I guess they would have addressed it. But let's face it, nobody ever addressed why the hell Kirk and Picard were able to actually come back from the Nexus and furthermore why the hell they didn't just travel back in time to the moment of Soran's birth and just strangle the little shit sucker!!!!!

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

The ships are only a few hundred meters across.  They're traveling thousands of times faster than light in a volume of space that could be measured in cubic light-years.  That's 9,460,528,400,000,000 meters to a side.  Even in orbit they're dealing with a volume of space measured in thousands of kilometers.

Basically the odds of hitting a cloaked ship would be like you buying a lottery ticket for every state that runs one and winning every single one.

Why ships always face each other across hundreds of meters and are orientated the same way in the Star Trek universe is left as an exercise for the reader.

How about...because the cloaked ships move out of the way...?

In Time to get out of the way of an approaching ship at Warp 10+...

Yeah... and that's very improbable. In fact, you'd probably need some sort of drive just to figure out how improbable that would be. Although, i would guess that the chances of flying into a cloaked spaceship is something like two to the power of 2 billion, 79 million, 460 thousand, 347 to one against.  ;)

That's why they've got those periscopes...to see things coming from far away...really far away...very quickly...

One other thing: They obviously don't have to worry about stuff like that. At warp speed, dust motes would ram a ship with about the force of an atom bomb, so they can't actually be moving through space, or the crew would be summersaulting over railings pretty much 24/7.

D'oh can I help it if I watch a lot of movies ... Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

Anyway my thoughts on the topic... maybe if the invisible ship was spying in front of the enterprise because the aliens don't know when youre going to be taking off.
