Went and saw it last night and I was pretty impressed.  I really enjoy Timothy Olyphant from watching Deadwood he fit pretty well as the villian.  A little sad that it was PG-13 but I'm sure the DVD release will fix that.  It was pretty entertaining and very similar to With A Vengeane in reguards to the humorous aspect.  I really liked how Bruce Willis would laugh at the ridiculous ways he took down henchmen.  And the ways that they made his daughter similar to his character, had all of us laughing.  It was nice to see an old school action star back in another great popcorn movie.

And as a bonus they had a trailer for the Hitman movie coming out this fall.  I realize I'm getting my hopes up, but Olyphant as 47 has me pretty excited.  So I'll raise my glass in hopes of avoiding another horrible video game adaptation.

Also saw this last night, and like raven166, was thoroughly (happily) surprised at how much I enjoyed it. MUCH better than expectations. A good amount of action, a ton of humor, and nowhere near as "over the top" as the trailers (and negative reviews) make it seem.

Definitely worth the price of admission. A worthy addition to the Die Hard series, and a definite addition to the DVD shelf. I might even go see it again before it leaves theaters, it was that good.

Thanks for the "mini-reviews".    Might just go see this as a mantinee next week while I am off.

Alamo Draft House + Beer Bucket + Movie = Good Times, good times.

Yeah. I did enjoy it quite a bit. The ending was awesome, but they didn't let him finish his line. All he got out was "Yippy kay yay mother-fu-". There wasn't a single f-word in the movie. The least they could've done was kept the yippy kay yay part in. I mean, am I wrong that MPAA allows around 2 for PG-13 movies, or is Be Cool wrong? Plus, I remember the most recent odd couple movie saying it like 5 times and they got a 13 rating, but Die Hard can't even say it once?!

That being said, I'll probably go out and see it again today for my birthday.  :D

As far as I know for pg-13, you can say "f*ck" as in "what the f*ck are you doing", but you can't say it like "I'm going to f*ck her tonight".  And you can't say motherf*cker at all.

Ahhh! We need an MPAA overall. Get all the soccer moms out, and get all the movie critics in.

And remember, they DID shoot this for an R rating, but later on they edited it down (rather obviously I might add) using ADR and clever cuts to remove the cussing.

Which is why I'm looking forward to the original / Unrated / R cut to land on DVD.

Loved it loved it loved it.  Time will tell if this installment will age well (I have a feeling it will), but it very well could be the best of the 3 sequels.  And I'm a pretty big fan of Die Hard 3.

And for the record, the PG-13 rating deosn't hurt it much at all.  That being said, I'd like to know what Matt was really saying in the scene after they crawl out of the van.  ;)

:D Yeah. That was confusing, and it went on for like 2 minutes.

Nice! For me it was a little garbled but it's pretty obvious he dropped a few F-bombs.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it as much as the rest of us did! I think anyone who truly has a negative opinion of it is just in denial.

"It was too over the top!"

"You mean jumping from an exploding building with a firehose wrapped around your waist isn't??"

My thoughts exactly.  Die Hard has always had improbable stunt work, and this one delivered.

My favorite parts were McClane's reactions to the crazy stuff, i.e.   His grunts and laughs were spot on, I loved that they didn't give him any cheesy one-liners, and instead just had him laugh or something.

I just love how he It was so refreshing. "She can't talk right now, she's lieing on the bottom of an elevator shaft with an SUV up her ass."

I still thought the ending stand-off was the most awesome part. And trying to shoot at the hampster french guy, and finally

Long Live Bruce!

Shinigami

I watched this yesterday with my brother.  We both agreed it was a surprisingly solid flick.  The previews make it look kinda stupid, they only showed the most ridiculous set pieces (car crashing into a helicopter, etc), and the inclusion of Justin Long made it look like this was going to be a "Die Hard... TO THE EXTREME" type of movie.  Instead it kept in the spirit of the two McTiernan flicks.  Regular guy in an outrageous situation who gets the living crap kicked out of him but keeps going, an elaborate scheme to rob a ridiculous amount of money, a finely crafted storyline that progresses naturally and logically, and fantastic action and stunts.

I agree, this was the classic Bruce mano a mano hardcore straight up action flick.  It wasn't the whole CGI/Michael Bay/XXX type of movie where the phrase "We'll fix it in post" was heard at least every day.  I loved it.
