I was looking at Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVDs on amazon.com, and I noticed that Volume 10 seems to be out of print,  ???what happened? Does this have anything to do with the the fact that a Godzilla movie is included? Will it be back in print soon? A little help here would be appreciated!

The long and short of it is Legal Issues.  They stopped printing it and i dont think they plan on printing it again (i could be wrong though) Right now it seems that they are focused on Volume 11. So i think your best bet if you really want it, is to fork over the 100 bucks or whatever its going for now.  They may possibly have those episodes on You Tube as well. But i havent checked it out.

Wow, that was quick, thanks alot! I guess I'll just fork over the cash. That'll teach me to wait on purchasing an MST DVD.

The same thing seems to have happened with Volume 9. WHICH I DON'T HAVE YET!  :grr:

I was lucky enough to get Volume 10 at the last minute though. The moral of this story: Don't wait to pick up Volume 11.

It was a rights issue with the Godzilla movie.  No word yet on if they are trying to secure them or not.

This is what many people believe, but hasn't been confirmed from Rhino.

Another possibility was a lawsuit - Retromedia vs. Bill Rebane - since this set included GIANT SPIDER INVASION.

Back to vol. 10 though.... you can still find these in some retail places.  Even with the $40-$60 price, you can make a good profit selling them on ebay.  I sold off 3 when these went OOP.

Or you can download the DAP DVDs of these. Once it went OOP the broadcast versions were whitelisted to trade again.

Thanks for the link! It apparently was settled in April (or he was allowed to speak of it in April, you know this stupid legal stuff i.e. Huey Lewis can't talk about the Ghostbusters lawsuit), so perhaps they are planning a re-release. It took a while after WB made their mistake with Superman box set for them to actually re-release that, so there's probably still a laundry list of stuff that has to be done before V. 10 is out again. Excuse me while I freak out about V. 9!

Sorry but until today I never hear of DAP, do I download it or is it one of those trading things? Again, sorry for my ignorance. :-",

You can download them from the site but their method is far far from perfect. You can cruise over to myspleen.net and use bit torrents and get them slighty faster. If you have a good usenet server there are several up right now on the MST3K binary group.

BathTub

bah the method is fine, it's just not the hip way to do it, if you can run bittorrent, you can run edonkey.

MrTorso

I eventually got it but the annoying e-donkey pop up that can only be solved by crippling IE was tiresome since I have programs that need IE to be fully operational. I totally understand why they have to it that way since the bandwidth would be ridiculous. I have gotten most of the DAPs from downloading from usenet and trading with other people.

Sorry to say, but this is all confusing me, rifftrax is about as far as I go with this kind of thing. I would like it very much if someone could direct me to a place where I could learn all this stuff. So I'm guessing I could use a DVD burner to put this stuff on a disc, right?
