Predatory Thoughts

I thought it was pretty solid, it had a lot of good moments, and some completely awesome moments to make up for the dead space. The pan upwards to reveal the body and the Ventura voice was pricelss.

I like how Mike just cracked up every time Ventura had a line. :^)

This track had some solid moments, but overall, I think Predator was a poor choice for a subject movie. While I was initially excited for this one, in hindsight I realize that there must be movies out there that offer better riff fuel.

Predator works because it has tension.... and tension requires a certain amount of 'dead air' that doesn't lend itself to riffing over the long haul. The overpowering jungle in Predator is the MST3K equivalent of "sandstorm / deep hurting" from Hercules vs The Moon Men. I'm not trying to directly compare those two movies... but you get the idea. Whether it was solo Mike or a whole gaggle of guest riffers... there is only so much you can do with commandos (using minimal dialogue) slowly being stalked by an invisible enemy. A decent amount of laughs... but no reason to revisit this one... I prefer vanilla Predator... 6/10

finally got around to watching this today, no complaints on this one... great Rifftrax! Most of my favorite lines have been mentioned already, the long pan up the tree, the Jesse 'the mind' Ventura impressions (even Mike laughing at the helicopter line was funny), the Anacondas reference (hope this is a hint at a future rifftrax), all the jokes made at the Predators expence were great too, all in all a brilliant effort.

This thing was sweet. I love this movie to death. I love Mike to death. So having Mike riffing this gem was magic. Also shows that Mike's still got it solo. I always wonder if having too many guest spots too many times in a row will throw Mike off his groove, but apperantly not.

Watched this one again, this time with a couple of buddies, and I enjoyed it a lot more. As it usually does... viewing with a crowd definitely added some contagious laughter. I must have been in a bad mood due to just returning from vacation during the first go round, because the second time I got a lot more big belly laughs. On further review... this one is another keeper... 8 spent shell casings out of 10 in the magazine. Jesse Ventura... lol

I liked it.  It's hard though, because, overblown testosterone levels aside, this is a fairly decent flick, so the comments sometimes seemed... out of place?  --for lack of a better phrase.

But there were strong laughs, no doubt.  I loved the comment at the beginning about "Novelty Governors"; what a fantastic turn of phrase!

In my opinion, though, still didn't top "Daredevil", as my favorite, so far.

Randy, I thought you were all about overblown testosterone. Remember 300?

LOL... Nicely done.  But there is a subtle difference that I won't go into because it would be boring.  I'm boring.

No, I always liked Predator... as a sci-fi movie it's pretty innovative and has some clever ideas.

Ditto. If they just took out "Stick Around" & "Knock knock" I'd be a happy guy.

Yeah, the Arnold-isms have their place in certain movies (Commando, etc.), but in Predator they just don't fit.  Especially since it's just those two quips, in that one scene.  The rest of the movie doesn't have them.  I'm willing to bet that during that time period of "Arnold vehicle films", it was in his contract that he could insert his little puns where he wanted to.  I can't imagine that it was John McTiernan's idea, or that it was in the original script.  But it's a minor quibble.

Well at least they took out the "Eat fist, Mr. Alien" scene.  :D

I just watched the "Blood Waters of Dr. Z" episode of MST3K on Youtube, and they referenced Predator in it. The "hero" gets bit by a snake, and after a quick tourniquitte job, he continues on his way to find his girlfriend Mike's input:
"I don't got time to bleed!"

Hazzah

I really liked the riff.  I always think Mike does an A+ job on his own.  My only complaint is the fact that when speaking of the Govenorship of Ahnuld, it's not going to comedy as timeless as some of the other trax.
Hi-Keeba!

Oh, I think, like Co-Star Jesse Ventura, there's ALWAYS going to be something funny about the Governator. 100 years from now we'll look back and think to ourselves with a snicker, "We elected an ACTION STAR for GOVERNER of CALIFORNIA! :^)
