Forum upgrades, improvements, etc!

[torgosPizza]

Hello, seasoned forum-dwellers! It's me, Erik aka torgosPizza.

The forum and I have a funny relationship. Prior to joining the team, I was just another member of Disembaudio's Squadio, enjoying the 20 Questions games and posting about one of my favorite TV characters and his robot friends.

That's right, this forum predates me, and I've been here 20 years.

So it's with great honor that I present to you an upgraded forum, with a nicer design, and friendlier features, like:
- Dark Mode and Light mode! Toggle them in the top right corner.
- Better spam detection and blocking!
- Email integration that works!
- Better quoting and @Replying (more improvements on that coming soon)
- Register or Login with your RiffTrax.com account (coming soon)
- Likes that work!
- A fancy new spoiler tag button and design!

... and more!

Because the mst3k.com forum is going away soon, I wanted to also extend a warm welcome to anyone coming here from there. I recognized quite a few familiar faces during my time spent there answering questions about our Kickstarter. I appreciate everyone who reached out, had comments, concerns, or just wanted to know more about where the &%@# their RiffTrax Experiment DVDs were.

Shifting my focus back to this forum lately, I realizede there always many places communities can come together, or perhaps too many, as social networks feel more isolating and divisive than ever. (I think I'm a member of no fewer than six different MST3K Facebook Groups.)

With the RiffTrax forum, we strive for community, and we want everyone to have a great experience here. We all have a common love for the art of riffing, especially when it involves Mike, Kevin, Bill, Bridget, and Mary Jo, along with the occasional guest celebrities. Therefore, we ask that you please abide by the Rules (especially Dalton's Rule #1: Be nice!) as we will not tolerate hate speech, or language such as shaming, flaming or doxxing. Keep political discussions to their boards, and try to be civil there too. Moderator actions are final.

Like I said, me and the RiffTrax forum go way back, and so I would have been remiss to continue to let this place languish in the dump heap of PHP 5. That, among other things, is among one of the many recent upgrades.

See you in the threads!

Erik

The forum looks great and I hope we can de-ghost-town-ify this place a bit.
