The Beer Thread

 Started a batch last Friday and used an entire packet of 3 year old Safale US05, first 24 hours it did nothing so I thought the pack was in fact too old, but Saturday it slowly started bubbling and was going strong by Sunday.  Today it has nearly stopped.  I used 2X the normal amount of Cascade, Cluster, and Citra hops I normally do, Sunday the house really smelled like hops, so much so that I kept checking to see if the top had blown off the fermentor.

Decided to make a batch using a prehopped can of extract and just mixing everything together after I disinfected all the containers- I didn't heat or boil anything.

How did this work out?  I've thought about trying it, if I can find a pre-hopped extract with hops I'd like.

That was almost 2 years ago. Can't remember how good it was but I know it didn't suffer from any infections or off flavors.

Good News!  The union representing the workers is trying to buy out the company and run it as a co-op to keep the brewery from closing.

Woohoo...hope it happens.
Was able to obtain a 6 pack of Liberty Ale via online seller- hasn't been sold here in awhile and ot's far better than I remembered. Also overspent on a case of Anchor Steam online just cause I thought it would be last I would ever see
If they can somehow restart, that would be awesome. Co-op may not have the same distribution, but knowing that the brewery that started the craft brewing industry (thanks to a Maytag aire) was still in existance would make me happy.
