Loved having Joel back, and Josh too (wonder if he will remain as Joel's Servo?).

Did NOT love the movie :P This is my pick for the worst film of the season so far. Smug, Whedon-wannabe, not fun at all. Munchie was less painful. MUCHIE.
FINE

Iron Curtain

I'll share my thoughts as they were on the Gizmoplex page for this episode...

QuoteI must say, I've enjoyed all of the episodes from Season 13 until this one. I feel I could've done a better riffing job (and I have riffing experience; I even riffed with Trace and Frank!). That being said, I've also noticed that the further I watch this episode, the more likely I am to laugh. I hardly laughed once at the first theater segment; then some more the second; and then some more the third.

None of this is to suggest I won't support MST3K in the future; I already think Season 13 is better than Season 12, which is better than Season 11. I just think this is a bad episode.

Hated the movie even with riffs when Rifftrax did it. Same with MST3K. Some nice touches here and there with Joel being back (Gizmonics door and old doorway sequence, J Elvis, etc) but still did not like this episode on first viewing.

The Lurker

There's an interesting Q&A on the current MST3K Discourse forums from the creators of the film, if you're interested.

Pak-Man

I was actually completely charmed by the movie, but I'm very, very forgiving of a movie where it looks like everyone involved is having fun. Loved the episode overall. Neat to see Joel back, and a surprise return of Josh as Tom Servo! I wouldn't call it the best of the season, but it's been a really strong season.

The problem with the movie itself was it was indeed near zero budget/near zero talent, but there was nothing absurdly incompetent or stupid in it. I mean like Suburban Sasquatch, which was hilariously awful. Birdemic with its trying so hard ineptitude. Winterbeast with it's total incoherence. This was a Dresden Files wanna' be, which is a premise used on a number of occasions so the idea itself isn't bad. Formulaic but coherent. So it was a chore to watch.

I mean Joel tried his best, and it was nice to have Josh Servoing, but the choice of movie made something that could have been momentous, kind of not. It was like one of the really lower tier early season MSTs.

I will say I thought the riffing was better than Robot Wars (which was the worst of the last 3 seasons for me), but that's sort of damning with faint praise. I"ll rewatch it at some point and we'll see if I still feel the same way.

Agree with most of the opinions here about Deomon Squad. It would have been nice if Joel had come back on the wings of a film as good as he left on  (Mitchell) but he did avoid the nostalgia factor I guess you could say.

My rankings so far:
1. Beyond Atlantis
2 Munchie and Dr. Mordrid (I love both of these and such good host segs)
3. Gamera vs Jiger (nice nostalgia buzz and as good as most of the old Gamera's--that said I don't think they are the funniest eps) The best stuff was with the little girl, Susan. Creepy girl!
4. Santos and Vampire Women (average ep)
5. Demon Squad (insufferable film)
6. Robot Wars (chuckles only riff)

My list would be close to identical to yours except I loved Robot Wars and would move it into the #3 slot (I even would put Munchie and Mordrid in tied second place).

Respectable list. I think we have had a pretty solid season so far that can compete with the classic seasons of Joel and Mike!
