Unfortunately, the patch also has a "delete all files in My Documents" bug.

ihavemyreasons

That bug didn't hit me. Could be because I didn't have much in My Documents.

And the update has been pulled due to a large number of issues including the My Documents issue:

Guess I'm lucky I didn't have more problems then I did.

I haven't had my Windows 10 office computers on in a while which is probably a good thing after hearing about this :o
I have a lot of important stuff in My Documents folders that I need.

Well, since I was one of the ones that installed the October features update, I did get an update to the update, but it looks like for everyone else the features update is still on hold.
Again, the "my documents" deletion bug never effected me and the only problem I had with the update was with my VPN software (which works with an old version of my VPN providers software or with OpenVPN). But I still can't tell what features were added if any.

Had an annoying problem after the latest "features" update. Trying to open Microsoft Excel files through File Explorer would cause File Explorer to crash. Files would open fine if I navigated to them inside Excel, but clicking on them in File Explorer wouldn't open them and would just cause File Explorer to crash.
Microsoft recommended fix- reinstall Windows 10.
Fix that worked without reinstalling Windows 10- uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft Office.

Probably just a messed up registry entry for how to open Excel files.  Easier thing to try would have been to right click on any excel file and use "open with" to change the default program from Excel to something like Notepad, open a file or 2 that way, then change it back to Excel.

Thought of that, but couldn't even right click on them. Highlighting them in any way in File Explorer caused a hangup and crash.

Hadn't updated Windows 10 on my GPD Win in close to 2 years...just kind of forgot I even had it. 8 hours in, still updating.

Hope it still works when finished :o

Thanks. It does, but man that was painful.

One of my holiday projects was setting up a proper office in the basement. Repurposed a number of things including using an ancient rubber covered outdoor chair seat cushion as a printer pad that works perfectly to keep the really old TV stand I'm using as as a printer stand from rattling apart.
For time being, using my old Surface Pro 4 with a dock to power 2 monitors, printer, etc. After a whole hell of a lot of Windows 10 updates, damned Surface Pro quit charging
Had to uninstall the battery driver and do a reinstall of new Surface Pro drivers and now all good.  No idea why drivers for a Microsoft product aren't included in the regular Windows 10 updates.

ihavemyreasons

I'll add I'm damned lucky I figured out my Surface Pro issue before the battery went to zero or else I really would have been left with a paperweight. Pulling a Surface Pro apart and then trying to put it back together would be something that with 99.99% certainty would result in me breaking it and I wouldn't have spent the money for someone else to do it.

Spent 2 hours trying a bunch of different things trying to get my HTPC to install the latest Windows 10 updates. Nothing worked. Finally had to just do a reinstall of the OS. Happy that I didn't have to reinstall any programs - even though I don't have a lot of programs installed on it as it's just used to stream video and play media files - but lost some settings. So wasted about 5 hours on something that should be automatic - 2 hours trying to fix it -- 2 hours waiting for the reinstall and all the reboots - and then an hour with settings - biggest pain in the ass setting is that since it's an HTPC hooked up to a TV there are slight over scan issues that can never seemed to be fixed the same way twice.

I recently tried to upgrade my dedicated video editing PC from Windows 10 to 11 .. Everything met the requirements except the processor. Had a 6th gen i7 and tried to upgrade to a 7th gen that was supposedly able to accept Windows 11 but it didn't work so I scrapped the entire upgrade and went with a totally new build entirely.
Now I'm about to retire my everyday PC that's still running windows 7 Ultimate with an entirely new build that has a 10th gen i7 with 64gb ram with Windows 10 but can accept Windows 11 upgrade so that will take some getting used to :o
