Re: Marvel

Yeah I got it before launch day.  Definitely not as fun with 1 player.  But I beat it without much trouble.

I'm done with Super Paper Mario and I'm doing all the extra mini game stuff.

Mario Party will be my next game I tackle.  (Also more fun with friends.  Just kina sad by yourself.)

I'm into Medieval 2: Total War these days, and I was into Rome: Total War before it (though Rome was my favorite).

I think the Total War formula is pretty golden as strategy games go; the big campaign screen is a deep, complex turn-based system not unlike Civilizations, and when a battle is triggered it zooms down into an equally well-developed real time battle mode and returns you to the campaign screen afterwords. Best of both worlds. What I love best about it is how realistic it is (for a video game). As far as I know, it's the only game where units of soldiers will actually break from the battle, cease obeying commands and flee in terror if they get their asses handed to them too hard.

It's a great experience. The battle in the screenshot is English vs. French, and having played battles like it I can almost hear the pollaxes of the English knights making the sickening *thwack* noise unique to blunt weapons.

On a related note, I would hate to be a soldier in an army commanded by myself, at least not in one of the cheap mercenary units I hire for the sole purpose of soaking up projectiles and jumping in front of cavalry charges.

I'm just finishing up Jump Ultimate Stars.  It's loads of fun even if it is an inferior Smash Bros type game.

I've been alternately cursing at, and playing Puzzle Quest for the DS.  It's kind of an RPG, yet to fight bad guys, you take turns playing Bejewelled.  Getting a string of a certain jewel gives you powers which you can use to boost your own stats or to attack the other guy.  I'm enjoying it, but because the board you play on is completely randomised, the fights can be very unfair at times.

Ahhhh... Total War.  Rome pretty much ruined all RTSs for me.  I used to love Age of Empires games but now I can't play them.  Civilization games are really fun though, but when my units attack, I wish that I could zoom down and control them ala Total War.

I've been soaking hours with Medieval since it came out.  I suppose sometime I should finish the last Zelda level...

Currently I am spending all my time and money on PoxNora (www.PoxNora.com), a cool java turn-based strategy game (supports Mac and PC).  And pretty much losing every game lol.  But sooo much fun.  Playing Marvel Trading Card Game and Puzzle Quest on DS.

My only console is a PS2, so I am occaisonally playing FFXII.  And I am STILL playing Black (especially after a horrible day in the cubicle farm).

Right now I am spending a lot of time with the following games:

Freelancer (PC - picked it up for $10 and was pleasantly surprised)
Super Paper Mario (Wii - it's good fun, but I figured I'd be playing it more; ,maybe it's just all the other games I have going right now)
Adventure 2 (Atari 5200 - this just came out and if you never found a reason to get an ATtri 5200, there is now. Awesome sequel to the original Adventure found on the Atari 2600)

Hebs

As of just yesterday,  Sly Cooper and Nancy Drew.  Word.

Chaos

My video card has been giving me hell lately - last month the cooling fan on it blew out, so my system now locks up for 10-30 seconds at a time every minute or so when I try to play anything with 3D graphics. So until I can afford to pick up a new card (which will take some doing, because I'm still on AGP), I've been rediscovering the golden / moldy oldies.

Right now, I am replaying Fallout 2 (mmm... post nuclear), and when I get bored of that I open up M.A.M.E. for some classic Street Fighter action.

I'm also about halfway through Final Fantasy 12 on the PS2 (my only console - again, me=poor).

My barbarian is stuck in the Paradise plane on Oblivion at the moment. He has the Blood of the North ability so I'm good for health, but I hope I can finish it before he runs out of repair hammers and soul gems...

I picked up Eledees (formerly Elebits) for the Wii not so long ago and I've loved every minute of it. It's kind of sad to think that it obviously won't catch on.

For those who aren't in the know, it's like a combination of Garry's Mod and Katamari Damacy. In a sentence: Throw stuff around with a Half Life 2-esque Physics Gun to unearth and capture little creatures which in turn enable you to throw bigger stuff around with the Physics Gun.

(finally got my 360 last week so I'm finally part of the next gen :) )
Rented Gears of War. Pretty sweet game, definitely worth the 14 or so hours it took to beat it.
I also rented Madden 07 and was very disappointed, I'm praying that the new 2k football will have easily updateable rosters because Madden feels very last generation at the moment.
I ordered Project Gotham Racing 3 off of Amazon (marketplace) for 6 bucks ... it was cheep not really sure what to expect from it.

I'll give this thread another read through and search for all you'all's 360 recommendations ... thanks in advance ;D

I've been alternating between Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for the DS and the Marvel Trading Card Game on the PC.  I know, I've sunk to new nerd lows, but I can't help myself!
