Looks like the game has stalled, so here are a few hints?

The directors/co-directors of these movies all have something in common.

One of the actors pictured is also the director of the film.

Each film comes from a different decade.

Charles Castle

Is #8 Eve's Bayou? Looks like Diahann Carroll.

#5 is Cleo from 5 to 7.
You know, if the space man puma thing turns out to be the correct religion, I for one will be very surprised.

Edward J Grug III

4 The Hitchhiker?

A few more clues?

For the movie from the 70s (#7), would it help if you saw her in her glasses? This was a poster the character was hanging all around town.

For the movie from the 30s (#2) this one is easy if you know the common thread between these films, and that their was only ONE major Hollywood director who fits the criterion from that decade. If you can puzzle out the connection, all you need do is go to IMDB or Letterboxd and spit out film titles that director produced in the 30s. Also, the actress in the film plays a pilot.

Edward J Grug III

#2 appears to be Christopher Strong

No idea who that is for #7
FINE

George-2.0

got it.

Looks like #7 is the stinker. Anyone have a guess for that one?

Cornelius Vanderbilt

Number Seven is Smithereens
If I had learned education I would not have had time to learn anything else.

George-2.0

and that's a win for the Vanderbilt's, so we finally got 'em all. The list

Inspired by my movie project on the year. I like to pick one or two subjects each season, based on genres or countries, etc, and then spend the year exploring. in 2020 I decided to watch movies from women directors. Made a lot of interesting discoveries (Susan Sontag directed a picture, I never knew that) and finally hunted down and watched all (but her Christmas special) from Larisa Shepitko, who I think is a genius, so sad her untimely death.

Anyway, thanks for playing. I now turn it over to the next host.

Anyone currently working on a list? Otherwise I could grab 10 DVDs to screen capture from and have a new game up within a half hour.

Okay then. Four of these films were pulled off a shelf together and share a common theme. The rest are just random.
