Is #3 a noir picture?

Ahhh... This is one of those divisive ones actually. I believe it is, but it's not a typical example of noir.

Is #1 The Power and The Glory?

Is #3 The Lost Weekend?

Edward J Grug III

No and no.

I'm going to point out the thing that ties the films together, since there is a strong chance this forum changes dramatically in the next say 24 hours and I'd like to finish the game, is they are all from the 1940s.

Cool.  I was very convinced #1 was from the 30s.  Like from... film stock?  I dunno, I know shit about the technical aspects of film.

Is #1 a comedy?

Is #1 a comedy?

No! The director had a sense of humour for sure, and even directed a couple of not entirely successful comedies, but this is not.

If this turns out to be Hitchcock, I'll be bummed to find out the Trouble With Harry didn't do well.  I love that movie.

Is #1 Shadow of a Doubt?

Is #3 Mildred Peirce?

It does indeed turn out to be Hitchcock, but not Shadow of a Doubt

And not Mildred Peirce although that's the right ballpark.
