Sounds very positive. I can't wait until the 10th!
Thanks for sharing that!
Man, I hope they do decide to do more of these. I know it is a longshot, but hey, so was Rifftrax.......
...
Argh!... I can't wait any more. I'm starting to itch! I want my copy now, now, now!
Seriously though, it sounds almost like what i had expected. The only thing i noticed was that they mentioned there is only one skit during the movie. I had assumed there would be quite a few in order to help establish the concept and whatever. Ya' know... otherwise it's kinda' just like another one of Legend's Rifftrax-Complete releases.
Anyway, i'm still looking forward to it... and all the rest that are scheduled to be released this year!
Woo-Hoo Film Crew!
-Rude
Already on my Netflix queue.
Netflix? These are in my Amazon "orders waiting to ship" queue.
I could not wait to get them from Netflix, then order from Amazon and wait another few days.
Nope, the SECOND I get this from my mailbox, i am playing them.
I hope enough fans get them from Netflix that it goes on "long wait" list. that would be a good sign for future new ones.
DVD Planet shipped mine already. Nyah. But I probably won't see it until late the week. (sniff)
I got an "on backorder" email from Planet DVD yesterday, even though I preordered it weeks ago... >:(
I wonder if it was an error email, or if PDVD is really out?
Hmmmmm...
...
I ordered mine straight from the source... meaning, uh Shout Factory. Anyway, i assume they would be the first to actually receive and ship any copies once they're ready to go. Of course, most the DVDs will be drop-shipped from the factory directly to the sellers. But i get regular emails from Shout Factory, and so far everything is still showing as backordered. I find it strange that DVD Planet claims that it is already shipping the first DVD, which could explain why some people are getting shipping confirmation and others are getting backorder emails.
As long as i get my limited edition Film Crew patch though... i can handle not being one of the very first people to see the DVD.
-Rude
agh, not to pour any more salt on the wounds Rude, but you're bound to find out about this sooner or later... the patch comes with ALL dvds. I almost feel bad about already having my copy when some people are dying to have their hands on this because I wasn't looking forward to this any more than any other Rifftrax release ... that said I look very much forward to EVERY Rifftrax release :)

My bad, I meant Shout Factory. I got an email on the 2nd saying "your back/special order has not yet arrived", which was a bummer.
I'm sure it will come, but still...
...
FYI: Shout Factory just sent me an email claiming that my Film Crew DVD has shipped!

Yeah, but at least they don't outright bash the product. It's enough of a mention to make the curious come check out the website, which is pretty good methinks.
Hmmmmm......I haven't heard any new news from Shout Factory. I guess I'll send them an email. ???
I watched the Film Crew's Hollywood After Dark the other night and absolutely loved it. I realize this was done 2 years ago, but I would welcome future additions after the initial four episodes are all released. Reminded me a lot of the old MST3K, not sure if it was because of the cheesiness of the movie or the skits, but it was a great combination.

Rhino was going to put them out and rumor has it they were prevented from releasing them.
I got the DVD, and I have some mixed feelings.
The DVD itself is rather spartan. It couldn't be more spartan if it had to go out at the age of 20 with only a cloak and a dagger and kill a helot. No subtitles, one feature, not even a scene selection.
The riffing was on-target, and I think it was superior to their usual stripper-commentary riffs. However, the sound was almost infuratingly weak. Not sure if that was the DVD or the source material though. The comments about the depressing nature were exceedingly good, and the opening scene with the male lead crushing Rue's hope was spectacular.

Nope, haven't shipped Zeitgeist yet either.
Well, I guess that is a good think that ALL of us who ordered from Amazon are in the same boat instead of just one of us with order problems.
Maybe waiting longer will make the movie funnier? As long as I get this in time for Friday or Saturday night!
Have you received an email from Amazon about your shipment??
If not (like I haven't heard a Damn Thing), I wouldn't bet the PSL seat for this years Rams season on it!

None of the Best Buys around me have any in stock and it's listed as backordered online, so I'm thinking it's more likely late shipments than higher than expected sales. It could be late shipments because of higher than expected sales, but that would have to be much higher than expected.

I was puzzled by the 2.5 average too. Maybe some of the people from the pirate site were mad that the Crew talked over all the movie and ruined it.
I was thinking it had more to do with the lack of nudity, or the beginning skit- people are impatient and since "watch now" is timed maybe they give up after the first minute.
Do you really think that many people have watched/rated it already? It seems a bit high.

Where'd you get it at? I ended up going to Suncoast video after trying both Boarders and Best Buy
But I just watched it and really enjoyed it, some of their best riffing in a while.... Though there were some slow parts too.... My mom even came down for the second half of it (she said to call her down when Rue started stripping..) and really enjoyed it
plus, extended Tom Waits reference ;D

I'm not going to dig up the references... but I stumbled across articles somewhere online back when this movie was announced as a "Film Crew" venture... I'm sure it's easily googled if you have the inkling... anyways... If I recall correctly....
The Rue McClanahan footage for this movie was filmed by an indepedant producer sometime in the early 60's (I thought I saw 1963 or 64, but it could have been 1961). The original title escapes me, but it was not "Hollywood After Dark". This footage was re-edited with some strip tease/nudity scenes years later by some other company and theatrically released in 1968 as "Hollywood After Dark".
So while technically incorrect for the 'release' dates, he could very well be correct considering production dates... at least there is a lot of ambiguity involved in the specifics of this one as far as chronology.
They say 1962 in the Film Crew intro.
Quote from: NunyerbizThe original title escapes me, but it was not "Hollywood After Dark".
FYI:
Walk The Angry Beach and later,
The Unholy Choice. This film was actually released around 1968. The confusion comes from Rue McClanahan's other film, which is often packaged as a double bill... called
The Rotten Apple aka
Five Minutes to Love, which was made around 1961 and probably released a few years later.

I have netflix, but i want to watch on my 50 inch plasma, not my 15 inch laptop. But who am I kidding, I will netlfix it this weekend!

But soon plasmas will be the cost of a prime rib roast.
If you ever come to houston, i can offer you a steak and movie viewing of your choice.

Thanks for the heads-up that Netflix is streaming the Film Crew. I'm another one waiting for Amazon to send mine, but now that I've seen it online I can be a little more patient. I laughed out loud quite a few times, especially at the comments during the first stripper's never-ending routine.
I just ordered the "Wild Women of Wongo" via Shout Factory's website.
Rather, I just TRIED to order it, and during the credit card payment, their website crapped out, and gave me an error...
So now I have to send them an email regarding my order once I get home... *sigh* >:(
On another note, if you get a copy of HafterD with the patch, making your own "Film Crew" shirts will be a breeze.
For the curious...
Netflix Ratings (pretty good for a movie thats only been out for 2 days)
You rated this movie: 5.0 stars
Average of 363 ratings: 2.9 stars
I just saw a nice animated banner ad at the top of The Onion's website advertising The Film Crew.... sweet! :D
I tried to watch it last night but after only getting 3 hours sleep the night before and 3 beers that evening knocked me the hell out in the middle of the "never ending dance". I did however enjoy it all up until the time of my departure from consciousness. I'll probably finish it off tonight along with the three other beers I have left.

wouldn't they get stuck?
I'm not too worried, I've got a big nose.
I imagine they're in that "easy-to-snort" capsule shape, too.
I can think of better pills to snort ... they might keep you up for 8 ours though ;)
Anybody get the free Film Crew patch from Shout Factory?

i just got it from netflix and it is cool. The sound is not that great. Sometimes i cant hear what they're saying. Not sure if its just a defective dvd or what.
Anybody know about The Film Crew's 4th flic: "Giant of Marathon" release date (October)??
Also; Has anyone been able to place a 'pre order' for it yet, and if so, where??

Not really sure what this mean. People on e-Bay can go nuts when they see something they want and they cannot get it right away.
I am HOPING this means the demand is more than the first DVD pressing, the advance sales pointed to this, and this means MORE DVDs.
But I am a hopeless optimist.

What? These DVDs come with the porno-sheen already on the disc? Usually, I have to take the disc out of the player a few times before that starts to build up.

I thought it just collected around the corners of your TV set...

You mock me now, but watch the video. Around the edges of the frame it's out of focus. Bad camera I guess. Still funny though.
As of Saturday night on the Shout! Factory homepage the Film Crew is occupying 3 of the top 5 DVD spots!!!
1) Hollywood After Dark
The Film Crew
2) Sweat Hotel Live
Keith Sweat
3) Killers From Space
The Film Crew
4) Wild Women Of Wongo
The Film Crew
5) The Johnny Carson Show
Johnny Carson
Come on Bob Honcho!! Green light some more!!!
And that's probably because Giant of Marathon doesn't seem available to order yet.

THEY GO TO MEETINGS.
Tracked one down at the local Barnes and Noble (Of all places) and watched it last night. It was funny and I like the sort of quasi-TV-Show feel and the skits. If I have a complaint it's that the movie was hard to follow, but with the right movie, this could be the second best thing to come along since MST3K. (Long live Rifftrax! :^))

Yeah, that movie was not the most happy film I have ever seen. And the long pointless stripping scene at the beginning was not to be believed. Very funny DVD though.
You know, I watched Hollywood After Dark, and I gotta say.... funny.... but not funny in any way that's worth note. It was like watching an episode of MST3K that I don't remember well because I was only half watching.
I'm still gonna check out some of the others, but that wasn't a good first impression to the series.
Yeah, I have to agree. Mostly I think it was the movie. Absolutely nothing happened in that piece of dung. Very hard to get a good exchange of riffs going. That's why I like Time Chasers. They don't have to come up with the funny; the movie hands them the funny. Even though it is a terrible movie, it's terrible in a very artistic way. Not terrible in a comatose patient way. In short, I blame the movie.
Yeah, I don't suppose that bizzare bit of despair and pain had any riff potential to begin with.
I don't know what it is....but my brain locks down a little bit when there isn't any color in a MST3k. Even with Dr. Strangelove I find myself drifting sometimes and I like that movie. I don't know if it would have saved Hollywood After Dark, but some of the beach seens would have been a little more beautiful with color. Am I crazy?

I think everyone in that movie was ugly and depressing enough that even color could not have helped.
Seriously, would you want to the main thug (the love child of Jerry Orbach and a Rat) in color?

Mine is still sitting there.
I absolutely loved this and i made two non-fans watch this with me cause they were crashing at my house...and they loved it in fact i talked them into renting crossroads so we could listen to the rifftrax (they are two 21 year old college girls) needless to say we will be watching the greys rifftrax next time they come back to visit...thanks for getting me some film crew and rifftrax ;D

bought mine at Suncoast on the release date, only place that had them that day though....
it's also in our system at blockbuster though not at our store and it's available online.... and i put it on the TVs when we had a half hour left the other night
Got mine from Amazon today, a week after the release date, and the iron-on patch is included. I guess as long as I can save $5 with them and find something else to get past $25 total to avoid shipping costs, it's worth it to get it a little later. It's not like there are gonna be any bookstore parties to sell them at a minute past midnight.

The discounts come automatically, but the price didn't go down until the day after his shipped. You can't get a refundon something that has already shipped.

I have since Cancelled my Amazon order!
I Think Amazon has just lost my business for good!

Email received from Amazon stated: "Because you only pay for items when we ship them to you, you won't be charged for any items that you cancel."
Even double checked my credit card statement to confirm no charge had been placed yet.
WHEW!

I don't think that mine has even been sent.
I got mine today from deepdiscount.com shipped to the UK in 11 days for ~ $6.00/£3.00
and I got a patch.
I didn't realise that a certain "prop diva" was involved, and she's Bob Honcho's secretary who got her voice mixed into the closing theme music. nice.
Looking forward to more.
Mine shipped awhile back, but I just moved, and didn't change my address with amazon. So currently my DVD is floating around somewhere in "forwarding address" limbo land. But, I'm not dying for it, cuz I watched it on netflix already.

Yeah, did anybody else see the news about deepdiscount getting a wrist-slapping about early shipping on Harry Potter. I forget how it was exactly, maybe they shipped book 6 early so they didn't get their book 7 shipment at the usual time? I always like to see the guys who think the rules don't apply to them take a fall.
hehe, yeah that statement was a bit prophetic. I personally loved getting Hollywood Dark over a week before everybody else... stupid Harry Potter ruining it for everyone grrrr.
And man is it good!!! The Bob Honcho part was dragged out just a little, but all in all, HIL-ARI-OUS!!!! And for you MSTie freaks out there, like myself, Chief Editor of The Film crew is of course Brad Keely!!! And the property master is none other than the fabulous Beez McKeever! At the very end of the credits, the boys give a very special thanks to Bridget Nelson, Virgina Corbett and Jane Murphy. Awwwwwww.
Yes, you would be a month late on this one.
merged.
Yeah some idiot complained about getting his Harry Potter book early, so now we probably will have to wait an extra week for The Film Crew's next one.
Just to annoy you folks waiting for "Hollywood":
DDD just charged my card for "Killers from Space" which is a good sign that it's about to ship.
it still annoys me all you people getting stuff early from DDD when it took me 8-10 days to get the last Wilco CD after preordering, don't think it was even shipped till a couple of days after it was released
Haven't bought it yet, but I did rent it from Blockbuster.com. Took a while to actually watch it, though, since the movie isn't something I can watch around the kids. Really funny riffs and host segments . . . really depressing film. I can't wait to see what they do with something a little less bleak.
Pssst! I found two copies of Killers From Space today. Check you local Best Buys, folks.
Finally got my copy today and watched it almost instantly. I thought it was hilarious! The movie is a depressing piece of garbage, but I really thought the guys shined here. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

Yeah, and I saw MST3k: The Movie again recently, and Tom says "shit".
Shocking! ! ! ! !
And, of course, there's that short clip of Josh messing up a line, thus prompting Servo to state, "I'm going to go fuck myself." I'm fairly certain that never aired, though.

Amazon was much faster with Killers from Space than they were with HAD. I received it today along with my copy of The Bourne Identity and I only placed the order for both on Aug. 1 after I read the 20 questions. Hope they will be as speedy with the last two.
The guys got a little suggestive with the sore jaw and pull-out jokes. Good work as usual.

Not Giving Anything Away Here...
BUT If you select the 'Bonus' on "Killers From Space", it starts off with Kevin wanting you to choose a selection BUT DON'T, Just leave it there for a couple of minutes and just watch and listen to Kevin ask you to select something..
VERY HILARIOUS!!
:D :D :D :D :D

Yeah that was pretty funny. Obviously we're going to sit there and see how far you go, Kevin.
Did the DVD cut a little out of the middle of that for anyone else? Kevin's like "Choose from this conven-" and then it skips to him looking at the list.
My HAD finally arrived! weeee!
My copy of Killers From Space finally arrived. I get mine two days after the release date when I pre-ordered it weeks in advance while everyone else gets it on Saturday and Monday? I don't think deepdiscount likes me.
