Hm.  Sphere isn't set in the future, and the antagonist is a bit fuzzy, if I recall.

We get a final guess guys! Time to discuss it and make it count. I want all the big names to agree too: Steve-O,Tarantulas,PakMan,etc...

Remember - the point of the game is not to guess immediately what the next movie is, no matter what the polls say (especially if it's not an Official RiffTrax Poll). The point of 20 questions is to narrow down your choices until you're sure you know the answer - regardless of whether you think it's the poll movie or not.

So, in honor of you, the RiffTrax Roundtable, we're giving you ONE MORE QUESTION.

Debate with each other over what you think it could be. Do your research first and put plenty of thought into it, and make sure your answer fits all of the clues.

You may wish to elect someone as the official "answer giver" and make sure you notify us OFFICIALLY that it is your answer. Something like:

"Our Final Question: is it...?"  or something similar (you decide) will do.

Go!

Hey, thanks. That's really cool and generous. Considering how bad we did with 20 questions, I don't think we deserve it, but that's why I keep spending my money here :D

Fellow riffaholics, I am going to officially state my position that it is NOT Sphere.

At least, based on the book. I don't remember if the movie version set it in the future, but according to the mods, the film DOES take place in the future, relative to the time the movie was made, and Sphere takes place in the present.

Well, we'll see what you can determine.  I think you've got all you'd need to narrow it down, without the threat of questions being sniped.  Good luck!

The commentary is going to come out whether you guess correctly or not :)  It's just for fun and "privilege" of knowing it first, I guess. And it's gonna be a good one.

So, once again:

PG-13 rated movie
Sci-Fi
Takes place in the future
Stars someone who was in a previous Rifftrack
Takes place on Earth
Human antagonist
Box office dud
Based on a book

And you know I'm going to buy it either way :D

Steve-O

All right, I'm digging through the IMDB for '90s sci-fi starring actors from previous RiffTrax.  I'll let you know what the likely candidates are shortly.

Ok, I'm not guessing, I'm just offering info to see what everyone else thinks-

Lost in Space-1998
Has Gary Oldman, same as Fifth Element
Rated PG-13
Starts off on Earth, and has characters trying to get back there the whole time.
Set in the future
Quote from IMDB-"It was reported in "Entertainment Weekly" that the entire cast was only signed to this movie when they agreed to do at least two sequels. The sequel plans have since been canceled, as the film failed to recoup its budget in North America."  So it didn't do THAt great, even if it did knock out Titanic, didn't even make up it's budget.
Based on TV show Lost in Space, which was originally known as "Space Family Robinson", from the book, "Swiss Family Robinson"
AND-

Mike RIPPED the movie wide open in Megacheese

So, that is my info I have researched.  I am not guessing, just offering up to see what everyone else thinks.  I'm just a humble newbie...
