What I want is a guest appearance of Mike, Kevin, and Bill on Cinematic Titanic.
Now you're pushing the envelope :scared:

How cool would it be to have the 3 of them pop up during a CT movie, make some snide remarks about having "been there" and "done that" then go away...
Fair enough.. OOO! How Bout This?!

Maybe a couple of those CT guys would be interested in riffing that movie that begins with a 'D', ends with an 'E', and has a 'UN' in the middle through 'RiffTrax Presents'! :o

You're trying! I Believe in YOU!! :-X

In theory: it sounds great.

In practice: That's a lot of people on one microphone (or at least trying to make themselves heard within the space of one 80 to 120 movie).

They all didn't talk on MST3K....at least not during the films.   :-\

(well, every party needs a pooper)

I'd like to see a Riff competition (Riffpetition?) where the members of Rifftrax and Cinema Titanic write seperate riffs for the same movie.

Like a Hip-Hop contest, or a YO-Mama-Joke off?

I've envisioned a live show competition, where they pick one movie and divide into three segments.  The first part gets riffed by Rifftrax, the second by CT, the third they all go in (or pick representatives from their teams) to riff head to head with the crowd deciding the "winners" by applause.

And of course rig it so that it ends in a tie, forcing the rivalry to continue.

Ya'know.. With all of July being a 'Month of Shorts', I wonder if something is in the offing for next month?? :o

The division might prove unfair though, with some sections of movies being ripe for riffing, while others not so much.  Doesn't mean I wouldn't love to see it though.  :)

Just means they'd have to be extra careful with the movie selection, or use that as the means for the "rematch".

"You gave us dead air to work with, next time it'll be different!"

They can even have it be an older cheesefest to give Cinematic Titanic an edge, followed by a big Micheal Bay-ish movie where Rifftrax would have the advantage.

It would be fun for like say an April fool's joke to have the groups switch projects without announcing it.  Have Mike, Kevin and Bill announce a Rifftrax and when you play it it would be Joel, Trace and J. Elvis and then have the rifftrax guys take their place on the scaffolding for the new CT release.

A movie called De that has the United Nations in the middle of it? That sounds weird.

You've never seen Dunited Nationse?!

...Incidentally, I'm a door salesman.

As a newcomer to this message board, I must admit this thread surprised me. It's so rare, on anything considered popular, to see a regular down-to-earth commentary such as this. Those in the entertainment world...be it music, theater, T.V., sports, film etc. seem to learn a way of talking that never really says anything. While those of us that observe constantly wonder why they don't.

It must be something that happens during the process. The arguments that are never made public, the things that are said, etc.  Because...for most of us, we probably wonder why just for the fun of it the groups wouldn't want to intermingle and possibly be on the 'others' riffing project or give each other a hard time in interviews.

But the reality is, they always seem to walk around on a knife edge with very bland and non-interesting comments that leave the audience wanting more. A lot more.

I think what it really boils down to for those of us that are fans, is that we imagine if it were us in that position that it'd be so much fun and so easy to just up and do this or that. To watch the other group's riffing effort and then blog about it or something, or during an interview poke fun that we would've done the movie better than they did...or whatever. Regardless, it seems to be the case that this level of at-ease and (suprisingly for a group of people who made their names making light of things) whimsy is not to be.

Which is why this thread surprised me in terms of its content. I'd like to see this idea of the groups interacting more happen, as would most fans. But I think what really gets the fanbase excited isn't the thought of how good the riffing might be or whatever, but more that as fans...we'd like to think (and hope) that they would like to do it. And I wouldn't hold my breath that that's the case, for whatever reason(s).

Granted I have the business sense of a Play-Doh set, but it seems to me the ideal solution would be (in no particular order) Kevin, Mike, and/or Bill to guest on CT. Then for Joel, Trace, and/or J.Elvis to guest on a Rifftrax. All sides are happy, and can see the obscene windfall profits as a result.

It would just mean twice the snacks.
