Isn't the theatrical release on any Aliens DVD ever produced? If so, why wouldn't they make the rifftrax more compatible by riffing the theatrical version instead?

It was a mistake. The offending parties have been fired and executed. (Or, read Thrashalla's post a few above this one.)

Also, I've heard that the 2003 release is the theatrical, but I could be mistaken. Give it a shot and see if it works.

In a way, since the theatrical release is superior, I think that's a good thing. No slaughtering of the sacred cow :)

Ohh, now you tell me.  After I went and bought a new one and am already ripping it!

Again, I'm not sure, since that's not the version we used. We used the latest edition that has both.

Ok, time for links. Since there is still appears to be confusion over what is and isn't the director's cut I'll cut my blabbering and just say it's one of these (I'm including some retail store links in case you don;t want to order online)

Alien 2-Disc Collector's Edition (This is the version we used)
Half.com ($9.74 lowest price for new copy)
Best Buy ($14.99 and they should all have copies...as it seems like all they ever have is Alien 1 or 3...can never have 2 when I'm looking for it but....ahhh, nvm)
Amazon ($10.49 new, $7.38 from the marketplace...this is the link from the product page on the main site)
Sam Goody ($19.99)
FYE ($19.99 regular, $17.99 member price)
Borders ($16.19 member price, $17.99 list)
Wal-Mart ($14.86)
DeepDiscountDVD.com ($13.77 new)

Quadrilogy (9-Discs, includes Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, and all of the bonus discs)
Amazon ($48.99 new, $31.83 in the marketplace)
Half.com ($32.99 lowest price for new)
Best Buy ($49.99)
Wal-Mart ($48.86)
FYE ($53.99 Member, $59.99 regular)
Sam Goody ($59.99)
Borders ($52.19 Member, $57.99 list)
DeepDiscountDVD.com ($38.25 new...out of stock ATM, though)

And of course...Netflix

Edit: Here's the PAL version of the Quad and the Director's for when that 'Trax comes out
Quadrilogy
Director's Cut "Definitive Edition"

Bob

But will it work with my Hong Kong bootleg copy?    That version is 125 minutes as the guy with the camcorder had to use the can once.....

I say go for it, probably won't sync up...but sounds like sync issues would just be part of the experience.

Enter the code DVDTALK and save an extra 20%. I think that's good through the 20th.

Please use JUNESALE, since that's what DeepDiscount is using in their banner ads on this site. Advertising is good. It helps Mike and Bill buy bacon.

If it's backordered, the discount still will work , as long as the order is placed before the 22nd. That being said, the Quadrology was between $19.99 and $24.99 at various times earlier this year. So if you miss out on the DD sale, it may be lower priced later this year.Which won't help you now, of course...

Next 20Q game on June 18th

Hmm, a Wednesday. Could that mean a non-game worthy release on the 17th? Maybe something riffed by Matthew J Elliott?
