My walmart is selling Alien with Mama's Family Season 1.  Must be a regional thing.

Well, Alien will be here tomorrow from Netflix, as my X-Files status has changed to a 'Very Long Wait' ::)

I just purchased X-Files off of Amazon market place and it was worth every penny!

I got mine coming from Ebay, but I have a feeling it'll be a 'turtle race' to see which one arrives in the Longest period of time.. ::)

Can anyone confirm with 100% certainty that the 20th Anniversary Edtion of Alien will work with the upcoming 'trax?   ???
I'm hoping an RT rep will step in here...

if they are doing the theatrical edition than any dvd ever of alien should work because they have never released a version without the theatrical cut.  might ebven be able to use a vhs.

I was nervous about that too.

I also have the 20th Anniversary edition and that is not the one they used.  Ours is 116 minutes and they one used was 117 minutes.

Go to Netflix and put it on your queue, that one is 117 minutes.

I got the quadrilogy version and it should work with that as well. Any Riff I can buy with out having to get a DVD for because I already have it just makes it better..

so youre saying that the 20th anniversary dvd that came out in 1999  a full 4 years before the "directors cut" does not contain the theatrical cut?  what then does it contain?  and even if the newest dvd says it is 116 minutes long it has both the theatrical and the directors cut on one disc with branching thats the one i have.  unless there is some third cut of the film there is no way that any dvd has the wrong version.

I have both the 20th Anniversary and Quadrilogy versions. The theatrical cuts on both have similar but not identical runtimes:

20th Anniversary - 01.56:32
Alien Quadrilogy - 01:56:29

I hope the 20th anniversary version works, because DVD Decryptor doesn't like the Quadrilogy disc.

PS - Yes, Firefox, I know. It hurts me to type "Quadrilogy" just as much as it hurts you to spell-check it.

Hey guys, so about that whole "Make sure it's the Theatrical Release!" thing I've been tooting for the past week...welllll. It turns out that, through an error on my part, the guys actually riffed the Director's Cut. I'm extremely sorry for the mix up on this one.. Fortunately, the Director's cut is widely available and the product that we have linked to from the main page and that first link I posted earlier contains both versions, also those that have the Quadrilogy are still in decent shape.

So once again, the correct version is the Director's Cut which runs 116 minutes. And again, I offer my apologies for any inconveniences this causes, definitely not my proudest or most professional moment...feel free to call for my blood/soul/head/any other scary mortal coil-shaking-free-of obscenities that you so choose.
Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.
