A Nightmare on Elm Street (Compound)

In the early 1980's, a psychopath named Freddy Krueger - known as the Springwood Slasher - murdered several children with a glove outfitted with straight razor blades attached to the fingers. When a foolish decision by a judge sets him free, Krueger is burned alive in the boiler room where he worked by an angry mob of the parents whose children he terrorized & murdered. Years after his death, the children whose parents were responsible for Krueger's death - including Nancy Thompson, daughter of the police officer who arrested Krueger - are experiencing terrifying nightmares involving a burned man wearing a glove with razor blades on the fingers. The ghost of Freddy Krueger is haunting their dreams, and when Nancy's best friend Tina dies in her sleep violently during a dream confrontation with Krueger, Nancy realizes she must find a way to stop the evil psychopath's reign of terror - or never sleep again...

Freddy!!! what happened to you, my little jokester of death. This is the first of 20 Nightmare on Elm Street films. this also marks the film Debut of one Mr. Johnny Depp (that dude from 21 Jump Street). The story is about a pedophile/murderer who is burned alive in a shack, but makes a deal with sperm demons to live forever and get revenge on the children of the parents who killed him. this movie also features sheep, lots of sheep. Freddy wears his trademark fedora and "Gay-ass" Christmas Sweater, along with that glove thing, but that's not really important. What is important is that he can possess the dreams of children, well teenagers, and slice them up into little ribbons. The story is about how a creature, the true personification of evil, is turned into the lovable clown of death we all know and love today.

I believe this movie is awesome

Ya know, George Harrison produced and cameoed in that movie (Life of Brian)

also, probably the only film lots of guys like that alos has a naked guy in it.....

I'm pretty sure people liked American Psycho, which while not full frontal, still had nudity

If there was full frontal male nudity, it would not have been nearly as popular (well with the ladies..........)

Your comparison doesn't work!

At least someone is watching these great films.

So, Jacob, for the price you paid to see those other films in 2 days, you could have rented far better films. Your logic has been ripped to shreds!

Unbreakable

QuoteSecurity Guard David Dunn miraculously survives a catastrophic train crash outside Philadelphia. Not only is he the sole survivor out of 132 passengers, he also is completely unharmed. A little later, comic book specialist Elijah Price contacts him to confront David with an incredible theory: Elijah, who has been nicknamed "Mr. Glass" due to his more than fragile bones, thinks that David has got all which he himself lacks. The two of them "seem to be linked by a curve, but sitting on opposite ends". First, David does not believe the strange man, but every single thing he had said proves to be true: David has never ever been hurt or sick in his life, his physical strength is larger than normal and he has a skill which others don't. Slowly, David begins to discover the shocking truth behind Mr. Price's assumptions. But after all, David's fate is not only to find his real place in the world. It also is about proving Elijah's theory of his own existence

Way back, when McShamallama was seen as a master of suspense, seen by many to be the next Hitchcock, before his career went head first into a tree, he made this film. Unbreakable tells the story of what might possibly be the two lamest comic book characters ever invented in the history of forever. Yes comic book characters, in a world where comics are seen by some (mostly 1) as windows into the past these 2 people David and Mr. Glass are given extraordinary powers, David, is given super strength, and the ability to see from a security camera's perspective. and Mr. Glass has bones that are so fragile, he can't fall down stairs without breaking most of his bones and being forced into a wheel chair. Both of these characters seem to be at opposite ends of the spectrum, David, never gets sick, and Mr. Glass, does so very easily. both of these men, however, have the same weakness... water, yes, water is their Kryptonite, which means they don't bathe, the can't or they would die, so these two incredibly smelly people help each other find their purpose in life, David is revealed to be a superhero, like that kid from Drake and Josh, and Mr. Glass learns he isn't really black. This movie has to have one of the best endings I have ever seen in my entire life.

as much fun as I had writing this review, the movie was still solid, and probably one of my favorites from McShamallama, it might be my only favorite, but we shall see

I give this film a solid Huh. (3/5)

Yep, love the ending...glad you sorta liked it. Its definitely different than any of his other movies, and I love how slow moving it is. So whats next on the list in the "Fortis Edition?"

The Prestige

QuoteIn the end of the Nineteenth Century, in London, Robert Angier, his beloved wife Julia McCullough and Alfred Borden are friends and assistants of a magician. When Julia accidentally dies during a performance, Robert blames Alfred for her death and they become enemies. Both become famous and rival magicians, sabotaging the performance of the other on the stage. When Alfred performs a successful trick, Robert becomes obsessed trying to disclose the secret of his competitor with tragic consequences.

eventually I'll figure out the stupid youtube thing

The Prestige, the Illusionists more popular and more successful brother. featuring the talents of Wolverine, Austin Power's dad, and the love child of Tom Cruise and Vinnie Jones. it tells the tale of two magicians who begin as friends but after a terrible accident, become mortal enemies, like Skittles and M&M's, or Logo and Spike tv, or pizza and ice cream. see apparently, pizza's wife was killed when the magic trick he and M&M were doing went horribly wrong, they went their separate ways and eventually, Logo shot Ice Cream, it didn't kill Spike tv, but helped fuel their hatred for one another. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan, who unlike a certain other director who has been around for roughly the same amount of time, is still awesome and has not gone downhill in the films he makes. the film also features cameos by one Niles (The Nanny) and one Mr. Gil Chesterton (Frasier) it does leave you with questions at the end, like "Which Skittle was the Pizza on the other side of the magic trick?" and "Why didn't Vinnie Cruise try to scare Wolverine with his scary Batman voice?"

I do like this film, but with all really good films, it takes a lot of energy out of me, so I need a break for a while, I'll be back around 10 or so with a different movie from the Fortis list

the film gets a "Whoa" (4/5)

P.S. I don't rent movies, because then you have to give them back, and I don't have that kind of time

I like how your review for the prestige is just as complex as the movie. Well done.
