Now that people are finally getting on the bandwagon and watching this one (I found it to be great from the start) will we be seeing any DVD covers for it?!  There are already plenty for both the other Rifftrax Presents flicks, I find it odd that there isn't even one for this movie.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

Just Some Guy

I think he did a reasonable job.  He wasn't so terrible that I said "Dear god!  I won't make that mistake again!"  At the same time he wasn't so great that I said "Ah ha ha ha!  I'll get every one of his riffs instantly!"  I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt for now that he'll grow into the riffing role.

My only real criticism of the performance is that it was overly wordy.  That's fine for straight comedy but riffing over a movie requires dancing in and out of those dead spots; going long only when the gag is a killer or it can smooth over the line.  We're playing two somewhat equal audio sources after all (well those of us synching are) and wordy riffs can blur the sound.  So Matthew, if you're reading this tighten things up a little bit.

I will say this wasn't the best choice of movie.  It wasn't cheesy so much as annoying.  "Oh look!  A spooky water drip!  Isn't the dread building yet?"  A more lively film would have been a better choice.  I've already bought my copy of House of Wax so I'm hopeful that it'll be the right mix of insane bad movie with joking riffs.

The preview, his "pedigree", and the fact theta he is here is enough to get me to watch. My issue is not with new talent, it is with SINGULAR new talent, or more appropriately riffed shows with only one riffer. To keep things from getting stale there should always be two riffers, at a minimum.

You know what, I actually LIKE single person Riffs.
FINE

Agreed, solo-riffs can be fun, just for the sake that they force the riffer to go about things differently.  Variety is good.

Well, the Amazon seller finally managed to send my copy to me...

Wow. What a light-hearted romp. I spent the next two hours watching "Scrubs" in a effort to lighten my mood.

Anyway, not a bad first riffing. Pacing wasn't too bad, but Elliott did talk over a few too many lines for my taste. That may have been a synch issue though as I was having trouble matching Dis' lines to the movie. I did laugh more in this than I did at the last comedy that I watched though. Looking forward to the "House of Wax" riffing.

Agreed.  I can't wait for Elliot to team up with someone so I can try him out.  From his posts he seems like a cool guy and the samples are evidence of his humor skills.  All he's missing is someone to play off of and react to.
"Did she just say Chipping?"

eliot did nothing to make a painful movie any better.

the only good guest so far has been neil patrick harris (in my opinion).

but, whatever, i'll give him one more shot - though i'll pass on house of wax...and maybe see what he does after that.

Out of the wilderness to take a BM on Elliot.

Well it's an interesting thread to start out with, but he DID say he'd give him a chance. :^)

Yeah, what the heck?!  Nice to meet you, too.  And the only good guest has been Neil Patrick Harris?  He was great, but so was "Weird Al."  And for that matter, so were James Lileks, Rich Kyanka, and Fred Willard.  Oh well, to each his own...

I've said this already, of course, but I do really like Matt Elliott.  I agree that one-man riffs are a bit inferior to two- or three- person riffs, but I still enjoy them a lot more than anything else that might be trying to entertain me.  If RiffTrax was still just Mike, I'd still be buying (and loving) them all.  But I definitely enjoy it more when there are more riffers.  Nonetheless, the riff is admirable for its hilarity, and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't just hate single-person riffs.

bm2i

didn't care for lileks either...thought weird al was okay.  troll 2 was decent. and willard would probably be 2nd after nph (or willard and harris tie...willard had the more difficult movie).

maybe i misread, does the topic only ask for positive feedback?

RoninFox

I think they're reacting to the fact that you've come right out with negative feedback as your first post.  Nothing wrong with that really, but it is unusual around here.  Even if I disagree with your opinion on Elliot, I'll say welcome to the boards.
