It's odd but I'd never noticed how fluffy and squishy mst3k (and it's spinoffs) fans can be. Following on from the rather tame "Dog Scene" in I am Legend that got lots of people upset it isn't much of a surprise to see SAW being rejected as it is by some. Personally (selfishly) I'm looking to give SAW a try. But then I couldn't fathom people getting upset about a cgi dog that gets choked to death off camera either.

I also think it makes sense to just have Bill and Kevin do something like this. It feels like Mike went out of town on business and couldn't find a babysitter so he had to leave them on their own, like in some wacky 80's movie. SAW is the house wrecking party that followed.
Mike doing SAW would've felt kinda wrong somehow.

Wow, Well I guess that makes three in a row that I won't get.
Although I love the rifftrax presents New Voyages riff. That was awesome.
How doing something like Minority report or US Marshalls or Planet of the apes (remake)
I'll even take Wrath of Kahn.
I don't think horror movies make good riffing material.
OK I've ranted enough. I still love Rifftrax   ;D

There are all kinds of Rifftrax (& MST3K) fans out there.  It's not like you accidentally walked into the hemophobiacs' support group.  And it isn't like MST3K/Rifftrax was actively trying to drive away the squeamish.  They wanted/want all the fans they could/can get.

And for the record, the dog was not CGI.  It was real, and it was arguably the most sympathetic character (and best performer  ;D ) in the movie.  I won't fight this entire battle again, but I'll just say that making you feel for her death was a success for the movie.

P.S.  Pssst!  Chiliking!  Look down there!

So, Rifftrax Presents = Movies that Mike is too squeamish/wussy to do? :)

I always knew Mike was my soulmate (in a totally platonic way, Bridget, I promise! :) ).

Those of you who get this one, please tell the rest of us about all the potshots they take at Mike behind his back.  ;) Just because he's my soulmate doesn't mean I can't enjoy a chuckle or two.

Will do.

This will certainly reaffirm my belief that no movie is beyond riffing. I'm really looking forward to it, it could provide my in-flight entertainment if I find time to download it in the terminal on Wednesday. I'm disappointed that so many people seem to be passing this up though.

GOD DAMMIT! My computer crashed AGAIN, right as the game was about to start

Sooo, its SAW :o
Added to my Netflix queue for when I get home ;D

Excellent.  Not my kind of movie, and I won't buy it, but that means that sometime they'll do a "my kind of niche movie" too.  It's not like these guys don't know movies like Geordi LaForge knows rejection.  In the meantime I've passed the Word of Rifftrax to yet another dude at work, so the virus spreads...

I applaud Rifftrax Presents for broadening the catalog, and I look forward to their other offerings. I loved the New Voyages episode, and I can't wait to see them tackle some other stuff.

I won't be seeing this, but it sounds like plenty will.  So, all you RT employees and mods and geniuses--great job being responsive to whiny, bitchy fans.  I think this is a great step, and I look forward to hearing how funny Bill and Kevin were in this one.

Seconded.  No, thirded.  No wait, dozen-ed?  New Voyages had me on the floor, and I'll definitely buy whatever else they do.  Saw is just in that category of untouchable for me.  "Saw" it a while back.  And that was really as close to daymares as I wanna be.  If they make it funny, it proves their genius.  Not that it needs proving.  ^_^

You know, I've seen Saw several times (though, I could never actually speak that statement without tripping over my own tongue). Maybe I'm crazy or something, but I didn't really find it that grisly. Most of the shots with all the gore are shot so dark and murky most of what's going on is left in your imagination. The movie, while it certainly is violent, is no Cannibal Holocaust. It's not even as gruesome as Hostel. I guess this says more about me than it says about people who get squeamish about these sorts of movies.

Oh, and I'd like to point out to everyone that this will be the first Riff of a movie with Shawnee Smith in it and really, it's about time. Maybe, just maybe, we'll be treated to a riff of The Blob remake (a total pipe dream, I know).

I'm with you, so maybe we're both crazy.  The first one, in my opinion, is not the torture porn grotesque horror that people seem to think it is.  The rest of them, well that's certainly debateable.  But maybe I'm just jaded by one too many viewings of Audition or something.

That makes three of us.

It really is not that gory.   The sequels and other films like Hostel are, but this one really is not that bad.

Okay, fine. Then call it the premise which I don't want to get involved in.  I haven't seen Silence of the Lambs either, and I know it isn't gory, but...meh. I'd rather not find myself emotionally distressed over a movie.  Again, I applaud the branching out of the catalog, and I'm glad that a bunch of you will be enjoying this--it's just not for me.

Of course, I was the one who could not watch I am Legend due to the dog killing, but I can watch this stuff.   There IS some gore of course.

I think the only emotional response you will have is "oh come on, that is impossible" and "you must be stupid" while yelling at your TV.

I dont think they could pick a movie genre that everyone would like 100%.
