QuoteBrewster's Millions is a novel written by George Barr McCutcheon in 1902, originally under the pseudonym of Richard Greaves. It was adapted into a play in 1906, which opened at the Globe Theatre (now called the Gielgud Theatre), and the novel or play has been made into a movie nine times (including twice in India). The 1985 version starring Richard Pryor and John Candy is perhaps the best known.

1902? Wouldn't it have been more like Brewster's Hundreds back then?

*sigh*

I miss Zardoz.

Zardoz, ScottH....we gave up one annoying spoiled brat for another annoying spoiled brat.

Really? I had no idea you'd left.

Sorry. How could I have NOT gone for that one?  :)

I can't think of too many remakes I like. NOTLD and The Thing would be among them. Brewsters Millions was a remake.

The Departed?, The Ring?, The Magnificent Seven?, The Fly?, A Fistful of Dollars?, Invasion of the Body Snatchers?, Texas Chain Saw Massacre?, The Maltese Falcon?, Cape Fear?, Scarface?, Ocean's Eleven?, His Girl Friday?, The Hills Have Eyes?, The Man Who Knew Too Much?

My friends, if you are part of the crowd that thinks Dawn of the Dead is bad, believe me, it has gotten worse.

I wouldn't call it a remake as much as I would a completely different movie! The basic plot is a flu-like illness is spreading throughout a small town in Colorado (Is it just me, or does colorado seem to be the epicenter of the apocalypse in a lot of movies?) Anyways, its not long before the good townspeople start turning into Spider zombies! Running zombies ain't got nothing on these guys! Not only can they beat Marion Jones on the track, they can crawl on ceilings( you read that right) and survive two story drops without breaking any bones.

And let's not forget our main characters. Our two main characters are Sarah Bowman(Mena Suvari), who is in the Army, and here dumbass little brother Trevor(who gives a fuck). Seriously, these are two of the most annoying characters ever! One of the film's funniest moments come when the reason for the two's apparent dislike of each other stems from something to do with a bicycle! Salazar( Nick Cannon), sensing the audiences frustration with this turn of events, tells the two to shut up. Speaking of which, Nick Cannon's character was the only one I really liked, mainly because he exhibited the most common sense. Of course, this being a horror movie, the black man cannot be allowed to live, meaning the moody emo white family gets to survive the apocalypse! :grr:

I was wondering if that was out, cool.

Having seen it, it's not even the worst zombie film with "Day of the Dead" in the title. It still would have been better received with a different title though.

i am glad somebody posted the day of the dead remake i was unaware of its existence and am now glad to have something else to add to the growing pile of movies that are a disgrace to Romero's legacy of enjoyable and well made zombie films. when i started this thread it was not to say all remakes are bad but that, i bet most people think some are and would enjoy seeing them riffed. one movie i put up in error was Jason X which is a sequel, but it still needs to be riffed just for how bad it was.

Doctor Who?

They remade Day of the Dead?

How did I miss that?

I agree, it's not the worst zombie movie ever ( though it does join a very crowded room of them).  But it tries to pass itself off as a remake, when its not even close to anything like the original. The only similarities are that the military's there and there are zombies. That's it.

Same thing with Dawn of the Dead. There's a mall and zombies, but beyond that, it's not even remotely close to the original. The original Day of the Dead is a great film. Romero does not deserve to be insulted by shitty remakes like these.

It was first filmed in 1931, as The Maltese Falcon. The second version was made in 1936, as Satan Met a Lady. The Huston film was only the third filmed version of the novel.
