Cloverfield doesn't come on DVD in the US until Tuesday, the same day the riff comes out.

How RT get to make the track before the movie came out on DVD?  Are they "important enough" to have gotten an advanced copy?

Considering that RiffTrax is owned by Legend Films and they have connections to other studios it really isn't that hard to believe they couldn't get advanced screeners.

This is probably just an ignorant n00b type question, but why is it called Cloverfield???

The movie said that the site of the attack was given the government site name "Cloverfield."   No reason was given in the film itself why the government chose Cloverfield though.

Perhaps it's what happened to New York after the movie...?  :)

The real answer is that it was the code name for the film when it was in early production and when it came time to pick a real name for the film they already had grassroots promotion circulating with that name so they decided to just let it stay.

I listened to the real commentary on the film and it is a fascinating one since the movie has (as some of you may guess) a really odd production history.  Quite a bit in there about exactly how they did things.

But then no more free Baconators that "accidentally" fell on the floor.

Word.
I worked at Wendy's--ten, fifteen years or so ago.  Sometime during my college days, I think.  Free frosties and 40% off everything else.  If only there had been baconators in those days...

Free Frosties, that's pretty sweet. I've heard that some people like to dip their french fries in the Frosty. Are you one of those people?

What's worse is people who dip their chicken nuggets in their Frosty  :gouge:

I am not.  Though at the time, I would make something called a "barnyard burger"--basically nuggets, fries and honey mustard added to a bacon burger so that the sandwich ended up six inches tall and included meat from three different animals.

They get screeners.  They are in the film industry.  They have connections.

My friend sees movies months before they are available in theaters because he works in the movie theater business.

He even met this guy:

I had access to screener tapes just working part time at Blockbuster, pretty much anyone the distributors think might be in the professional position of offering their opinion about a movie to a consumer will be sent at least some of them.

Back in the day when the movie industry only had to worry about people selling bootleg tapes in flea markets on the street, you could get all kinds of promos and screening copies. They are a bit tight fisted these days with the internet now.
