I thought it was just a bunch of deleted scenes from other movies,you know the The Trial of the Pink Panther of Superhero movies.

Good thing:
They did the black suit Spiderman, so that Venom would have the connection to Spiderman that he does in the comics, as apposed to him being YET ANOTHER science experiment gone wrong.

Bad thing:
The black suit Spiderman was only 40 minutes in a 2.5 hour movie, and it only resulted in crappy emo and dancing behavior. Then, rather than letting the creation for Venom be the end (as it seemed to be intentioned, based on the shot into Venom's mouth), they wasted him (literally and figuratively) in the last half hour of an already too long movie.

I really thought they'd go with the whole "Venom created as a cure for cancer" thing from Ultimate, not have him fall out of the bloody sky. Most of the time, I don't put on clothes that fall out of the sky. And they don't put themselves on me.

Technically Venom has the same story arc as Spider-Man. Blah blah boring stuff with Eddie at the beginning, costume 40 minutes in, big action climax high up in NYC. It's just they cut away to more than Norman Osborn in between scenes. They could have made a really easy sequel with just Venom by ripping off the first movie with Brock. Have his uh, Aunt Ben die... or something. Do whatever you want in the Peter part of the story, have him juggling ice cream cones. Wouldn't matter. Maybe the Venom movie will be like that, ignoring SM3.

Bad thing: Every other scene after that was embarrassing, awkward or unnecessary.

But I suppose the whole, "its attracted to aggression" plot wouldn't work then...hey so if they did it this way it would have actually been good, and we wouldn't have seen Pete turn into emospidey.

It also bugged me they didn't tell anyone why Spiderman's "spidey sense" doesn't work around Venom...or why Spiderman didn't seem to have any sense at all in this movie...arg, this movie had so much potential.

The Good: The fanboy conjecture, prior to its opening, that Bruce Campbell was going to be Mysterio.

The Bad: The deus ex machina which was Harry's amnesia.

I think it was sort of fitting how it literally dropped out of the sky. "It's so perfuctory we're not even going to bother coming up with a backstory. So here ya go! *plop*"
