Bad Taste (and that other one with Kate Winslet, Heavenly Creatures, I think) are my counterargument to the 'mechanical blockbuster machine' view of Peter Jackson. Someone needs to take some of his CG toys away from him, though, or he'll go all Lucas-y on us.

I love scanning the horror section at Best buy........ they have some really cool stuff there.    Lots of indie horror and horror and scifi sets.

I have the Anchor Bay fancy limited edition of Bad Taste. #15,288 of 50,000 in fact. Haven't actually checked out any of the special features though. Probably should.

I agree about the CG toys. It would be a shame to lose another talented director to Lucasland.

I love these sets too. Sometimes you just need a horrible movie to put on the TV. The quality on the movie is sometimes great and other times it looks like it was transferred from a 12th generation VHS tape, you never know. You can get them for under 10 bucks if you look in the right places. "Classics" is false advertising, but anyone who bothers to look at the titles knows that. The ones that appeared on MST3K are usually the best movies! Also the movies on the sets may or may not fit the category.

The Sci-Fi Classics set has the following movies that appeared on MST3K:

Robot Monster, The Atomic Brain, Horrors of Spider Island, First Spaceship on Venus, Phantom Planet, Eegah, Hercules Unchained, Hercules Against The Moon Men, Crash of the Moons, The Amazing Transparent Man, Teenagers from Outer Space, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Hercules And The Captive Women, Gamera (although a different dub), and Gamera vs. Guiron (under the title Attack of the Monsters and also a different dub). Also on this set is The Galaxy Invader, which is the movie that can be seen in the opening credits to Pod People.

The 50 Horror Classics has:

The Corpose Vanishes, Swamp Diamonds (not a horror movie but who cares), Tormented, The Brain That Wouldn't Die, Beast of Yucca Flats, Attack of the Giant Leeches, Killer Shrews, The Screaming Skull, and Giant Gila Monster (some versions of this set have The Crawling Eye, too)

The 50 Martial Arts Classics has the two episodes of The Master that made up Master Ninja I.

The 50 Nightmare Worlds Set has "Ring of Terror"

The 50 Chilling Classics Set has "Track of the Moon Beast"

The 50 Tales of Terror Set has "Manos: The Hands of Fate" (the worst print I've ever seen of it), and Night of the Blood Beast

The Sadist is also on the "Tales of Terror", and it's very interesting if you've seen Eegah.

The quality is pretty mediocre on most of them, and some of the later sets have a small "Mill Creek" logo in the corner that fades away.

I am not sure how Bad Taste ended up in Public Domain. Guess something to do with it being PD only in the USA or something.  Hazy area copyright is.../Yoda

Bad Taste is NOT in the public domain. Unless the company that put out that compilation is owned by the same company that holds copyright to the film, they're likely going to get their asses sued off when somebody finds out that these bootleggers are ripping them off. And even though I hate the movie, the lawsuit would be justified.
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

For Pete's sake, Johnny. Stop bumping four year old threads  to pimp the Loc. It's annoying and it's this type of stuff that keeps many of us away from the Loc in the first place. Enough already.

Yeah, it's getting quite annoying. Let sleeping threads lie, dude.
