Why wasn't Children of Men nominated? This thread is broken.

It's too new.  I liked it though.

I want to nominate the movie Brain Donors..

What about the Mad Max movies? At least the first one needs to be put on the list.

Reading over the list, it seems pretty good. And by that, I mean that The Shawshank Redemption is rightfully on there. And Children of Men definitely deserves a nom (No Country for Old Men is on there, after all, and that's more recent than Children). And I haven't read through the whole thread yet, so I can't say much more than that (though I would like to know who thought nominating The Day After Tomorrow was a good idea. Just saying).

Children of Men was an average film. Basically a rip off of Aeon Flux.

Um... I'm going to assume that's some sort of joke that I don't get.  And are you talking about the movie or the cartoon?

Doktor Sleepless

Round about now! Since they say! I am the sexiest man in Jamaica!

Nick

Children of Men was an awesome movie, I can't believe I forgot about it.
Killing me won't bring back your Goddamned honey!

In what way?  That book wass written quite a while ago if I'm not mistaken.  Also, there are no new ideas, just creative configurations and presentations of old ones

Thought of another one I have not seen for some time. Five Million Years to Earth the British name is Quatermass and the Pit as the link says. This is by far the greatest British made movie I have ever seen.

Other than write my own review, I shall quote a review from someone I share a like mind with.
QuoteYou've almost certainly never heard of this movie. It came out in the 1960s. At that time, there was a British TV show about a super-intelligent but cranky scientific genius named Quatermass, and the shows were very popular (think terrestrial Dr. Who, if that helps). The movie was based on the TV story "Quatermass and the Pit", and was released in the UK under that title. The basic plot is that a spaceship is found buried in the mud under London, and is ancient, millions of years old. It's from Mars, back when Mars was able to support life. The martians (insect-like giant grasshopper-thingies) were colonizing Earth back then, and things went wrong... but not as wrong as they're about to get when the spaceship comes alive again.
This movie has it all: aliens, spaceships, ghosts, cavemen, telepathy, telekinesis, weird science gadgets, the devil (yes, the Devil). My wife hates it. She thinks it's too slow, and I have tried to explain to her that the movie simply takes its time building up the plot. I absolutely love the ending to this flick, and I mean the very end, even while the credits are rolling. If you're looking for happy ending with everything neatly tied up, try a different movie. It's a dark victory for mankind in this one.

Tripe

That's one of my favorite movies.

Its writer, Nigel Kneale, also wrote Hallowweeen II (or III but I think II) and a great series called The Stone Tapes and he was a pretty majour influence on Prince of Darkness

I've seen The Stone Tapes, and considering it's a British TV special, it's very good.  All the Quatermass films I've seen are good.  Is the Pit the one set in the underground tube station?
