Ok... admit it... you liked the movie.   A little?  hahaha...

RobtheBarbarian

It was like Van Helsing animated. I don't hate it, but I won't remember it in a week; it was that "meh" kind of bad.

I'm a fantasy geek... so I must admit, I liked aspects of the story (yes, there were definitely many cheesy aspects of it as well), but felt that the computer graphics aspect only added to the cheese factor. With today's technology, we can create good fantasy films with live actors... LOTR for instance.

Pak-Man

I thought it looked neat and had a fun story. It doesn't knock it out of the park, but it ain't bad. :^)

You didn't put in the poll the choice of "never watched it" or is this board just for those who have and I will be shunned?

I was actually pretty excited to see this movie, but I decided not to because it has nudity all over in it. I've seen enough nudity in my life because of the billboards here in Vegas. If it was just one shot of butt, I would have been fine with it, but  there is just to much in it for me to enjoy the movie. Too bad, because I have a guilty pleasure for cheesy adventure movies. I do enjoy the mummy movies after all...and Rocketman.

Why is it fine for people to see men and women torn apart by monsters in a movie, but offensive for those same people to see a butt or side boob?

I agree... I would much rather see nudity than violence in films.

I think that we are desensitizing our youth to violence with video games, television and film.
(I won't go into this issue further, I think that's another topic all together.)

Well, I don't like violence either...I mean, Cloverfield was way too intense for me (not because of the camera) and it was only pg-13 (I think it should have been more than that). Another movie I would never see is 300, not because it is cheesy (again, I liked the mummy movies), but because of the violence. I generally don't see movies if it is too violent, has nudity, too much profanity, I'm pretty picky on what I want my mind subjected to (I'm easily influenced). That is why I don't want to see nudity, or too much violence, or profanity, because it stays in my mind for days.

I don't really mind violence in film... as long as it is serving a purpose and moving the plot along. Obviously you can't do a war film etc. without it. There are plenty of violent films that I like, and even love... I just feel that there are too many that add unnecessary gore.
I prefer the Hitchcock approach to it... it can be insinuated without getting grotesque.

When you see a naked man's butt or a woman's sideboob and that image sits in your mind for days, what exactly does it do to you?  Or do I want to ask?

I wholeheartedly agree, if it is necessary for the story or character then put it in, I won't fault them for it. Lord of the Rings is a semi-violent movie, but it makes the difference that you don't see blood or guts flying everywhere. It isn't "in your face" violence.

I hate the "scary" movies they have coming out the past few years, they are just slasher, violent, gory, unimaginative movies. Hitchcock had it right most definitely. Nothing is ever as scary as what our imaginations can come up with, and Hitchcock knew that. He knew that if he actually put it on screen it would take away whatever suspense and tension he had built up.

Hollywood never learns that the crap they are coming out with isn't good. And yet they keep putting these movies out...and people still keep seeing them.

If you eat something really gross, do want to keep tasting it afterwords? Its the same thing with movies, if I was offended or grossed out, I don't want to keep thinking about it. its that simple, nothing weird about it.

Well personally, seeing blood and entrails is worse than seeing a man's bottom.  Violence is way more disgusting to me than naked humans.  If the naked humans were having graphic intercourse I think it would be justified in being rated R or worse, but sideboobs and bottoms don't rate high with me.  But whatever.
