Aw, I'm sorry, skenderberg. I'll write you a nice post all for yourself someday.

I apologize for my rudeness, bta. I get a little tired of slams against Fox News, for various reasons, but this isn't the time or place, and that wasn't a very nice tone for me to take. I'm sorry.

Well, I apologize to The Swayze for my avatar.  But I still think Mike should have him as a guest riffer.  That's how I'd wanna go out.
On timeout

Oh yeah, sorry!  I thought we were discussing whether or not this news is true.

That's what I thought too.  Fox News doesn't often source well, but they found out that Swayze's still actively rehearsing his various projects.  This seems to kill the "on his deathbed" nonsense.

To be fair, though I agree that there is a certain dubious nature to this news, cancer can hit rapidly and brutally. He could very well have been rehearsing one week and near death the next. And the article doesn't say that he's on his deathbed yet.

I'm still scouring the web to see if Swayze himself has said anything about the news.

It wouldn't surprise me if Swayze really does have cancer, but it's par for the course for the National Enquirer to take news like "Patrick Swayze Diagnosed With Cancer" and run with the headline "SWAYZE HAS 5 WEEKS TO LIVE!!!"

True.  Like the Grey's Anatomy guy who had a mole on his lip removed and OK! Magazine's next cover story was "Justin Chambers Cancer Devastation" or something.  The tabs are nothing if not sensitive and rational.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the announcement from Swayze's reps before I start crying over whether or not Red Dawn is going to get riffed.

To further support the Enquirer (I know, huh?), pancreatic cancer is one of those fast cancers.  Once diagnosed most people don't live 3-6 months.  It's the cancer with the highest mortality rate and one of the quickest mortality rates.  So, people do go from normal to dead in no time.

Of course, the Enquirer could have saddled him with pancreatic cancer  just 'cause they know that and it sounds more believable than some other kind of cancer too.

It's true.  I'm going to cry.

QuoteDirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and might only have weeks to live, a rep for the star said today.

The 55-year-old star's publicist confirmed to Page Six that he's suffering from pancreatic cancer, which could tragically bring down the curtain on his remarkably diverse career.

Patrick was diagnosed with the cancer more than a month ago.

The average life expectancy is six to nine months, with only 4 percent of patients living more than five years.

On February 5, Page Six reported that the Ghost star underwent a serious "gastrointestinal procedure" at Stanford University Medical Center. At the time, his spokesperson said that the treatment went well and he was "home and happy" following the procedure.

Patrick recently wrapped filming on the A&E TV movie The Beast, in which he plays an FBI agent. An insider at Sony Pictures tells PageSix.com there were no problems, "health or otherwise," while Patrick was filming.

Well, that sucks for him and his family.

And maybe there should be a brief riffatorium, but I don't think this counts out his movies from riffability forever.
Agreed! It will probably delay the chances of them being riff'd now.. :'( :'(

Brak

poor guy, ive fought cancer myself (luckily i won) and those chemo treatments are no fun. It's a tough battle that sadly you just can't win  :'(

I dunno... maybe it would be a good way to send him out. Fire up the iPod, pop in Next of Kin, and have a few laughs and a few tears.

I'd be a very, very, very fine line to walk between tribute and bad taste.  If I were Mike, I wouldn't even attempt to walk it.

Yeah, I don't think they'll go there. It just wouldn't go over too well in general.
