Starman!

I bought Metallica: Quebec Magnetic and Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day (which I can't wait to watch) on Blu-Ray while at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Because I love overpriced gift shops (actually, these two weren't too bad.)

Starman!

There's a lot of stuff that I bought recently with Christmas money, but I want to share this. The Room just came out on Blu-Ray. It's $30 on Amazon (!) but The Room website has a bundle pack with the Blu-Ray, a T-Shirt and a gym bag for $36, so I decided to buy it. And even better, Tommy Wiseau autographed the Blu-Ray!!

The autograph says "To Chris: may all your dreams come true! Love, Tommy Wiseau 1/11/2013"

Two late Christmas gifts (due to me being overseas for the holidays, my family waited until January to exchange gifts):

I've been devouring this one for the past week or so. Mostly sticking to the ones I don't remember so well, and saving the favorites for later.

The Bond set is good. I ended up selling the stupid book and case it came with and made back about $70; I just have them individual cases now with some custom art.

Did you Ebay it??  If I had a chance to get back a nice chunk like that I would probably grab that set.

Yeah. It was back in Nov or whenever it came out. I got the "Amazon exclusive" book with it too, which helped to drive up the price.  Seriously, lots of people eat up packaging shit that I'd otherwise throw away or stick in a box, so I keep all of it now and sell it in a big lot now and then.

I'm one of those people, which is also why I quite like the Bond 50 set (although getting the discs back into their sleeves can be trickier than it needs to be). I enjoy presentation in physical media like that, it's something that you never see anymore. It's another reason to love Criterion, for instance, because of all the love they just put into the box, not to mention the little booklet inside (every once in a while as I go through my DVDs, I find an old one that has one and barely recall the days when those little booklet/leaflet inserts were actual semi-commonplace things).

Seven Psychopaths today

Can't waid to watch it, that cast....I almost had a nerdgasm when I saw it was on DVD

So I ordered Chasing Amy on laserdisc (as mentioned in my earlier post) but the stupid seller never shipped it to me. I sent them an email and they never responded so now I'm trying to cancel the order.

Relaxing Dragon

Sort of a big haul recently. I'm finally getting around to doing the last of my DVD-to-Blu upgrades, which is half searching for the cheapest online deals and half trading in my now-unneeded DVDs (along with other titles I'm purging from my collection on the grounds that I just never ever watch them, no matter how much I actually enjoy the film itself) to Rasputins to buy other titles (usually ones I never owned before in any format). This is something I've been doing intermittently over the past year or two, but I'd really like to finish it off in the next few months. One less thing to worry about, really.

These are all upgraded from DVD:

Just got these two:

City Slickers was a present to myself for my first paycheck at my new job. And Wreck-It Ralph was given to me for my birthday. Strangely enough, City Slickers has significantly more special features. A half-hour retrospective with fun insights and a half-hour focus on the script (which absolutely deserves its own recognition). Can't wait to hear commentary by Billy Crystal, Daniel Stern and the director. But someone tell me... why isn't Jack Palance billed?

And Wreck-It Ralph...? Well, I adore it. Best animated feature since How To Train Your Dragon imo. Even without all the cool cameos.

Had to look it up. Yep... Amazon has a double-feature dvd combo of "Titty Slickers 1 & 2". Sadly, the cover does not indicate anything Western about it. It's just a naked woman.

Johnny Unusual

If it was, they would have called it

...Sorry.

Willow on Blu Ray.
