I like buying Dvds w/ commentary & I like buying riff trax mp3's. Can't you continue to do both, what is your next planned color dvd that features Mike? is there one... isn't that the more profitable side of your buissness, or are you just waiting for riff trax to really take off so you wont have to produce dvds w/ mike?

Lately I'm giving all my hard earned money to the George Lucas' and the John Carpenters' and no longer supporting the cult classics. Which is fine, I'd rather do both though.

Considering that the overhead for a Rifftrax vs. the overhead of doing a colorization, then doing the commentary, then duplication, packaging, shipping, advertising... I can see why they are cranking out the Rifftrax.... it just makes better business sense...

I certainly hope that Rifftrax is making financial sense for everyone involved.  Let's hope they continue, won't you?

We (the fans) have "run the numbers" in the past (rough estimates). And I think RiffTrax is doing well...financially.  :)

Exactly, I'm way to lazy to reauthor dvds. I even have a dvd burner and the tools to reauthor... its more a matter of wanting to spend an hour(s) fine tuning sound

It's easier than it sounds...  if nothing else, pick up a cheap mp3 player (I saw one styled for kids at Walmart in the junk isle for $10) and sync it up that way.

BathTub

It gets easy, this weeks one really on took me a few minutes work.

Load them both up in Audacity,...

Find out exactly how much out of sync the mp3 and soundtrack is. You get a rough guide (to the second) from the readme file, but now you can get it down to the millisecond by just dragging the cursor between the movie and the mp3.

Go to the start of the mp3 and chop off that amount of time.  Check you are now in sync, fix if you calculated wrong

Mute the sync lines, and the chatter before the 'pause'

Chop off 0.4 seconds to account for the Goldwave VoiceOver plugin.

From then on it's all pretty much just loading/processing/compilation time.

No seriously, I dont see myself spending time to adjust sound levels, but hey I'm glad it works for you guys. I hope you continue to use your favorite methods, I just am not going spend time on it.

hey BT I have an idea for your guys' next DVD authoring thread "8 minute abs: DVD reauthoring in 8 minutes or less"  ... or you could always go for 7 minute abs too, but not 6. 6 minutes is just crazy talk. ;)

sarcasm_made_Easy

i wont ever reauthor either, i would totally buy the season though, without even thinking about cost.

BEERxTaco

I re-authored one just because I like to try stuff, but it was a bit of work... not that I have anything against a little work... well, not too much...

Where is that 6.6 min abs joke from?  I remember it, but I can't place it.
