My overall feeling is that this wasn't a great rifftrax. My complete 'take' here:
http://www3.sympatico.ca/inch77/rifftrax.htm

It?s ok to admit that this wasn't good. If we're not honest, then how do they know what works and what doesn't work.

The law of probability proves that not every rifftrax will be hilariously funny.

Ok, I guess I'm a scaredy cat, but this riff was both hilarious and difficult to get through. I caught myself laughing just out of a need to lighten myself up. Still a great rifftrax...but I'm never watching it again. :-)

The elevator scene was really funny, as was the burping phone call. I felt they talked too much at times. I mean, I understand that the balance between riffing and dead air is a balancing act, but this one was really non-stop with the talking, and it had its funny moments, but the beginning was especially very talky. The thing is, if a joke cant fit into a sound bite, its not going to be funny no matter how much you try to explain it. There were also a lot of moments that seemed like a good riff could go there, but there wasn't one. It didnt help that a lot of the jokes mentioned names I have never heard of. Take a week or two off?

As it stacks up, the Grudge is the border of riffTrax I would recommend and those that I wouldn't.

My Rifftrax rankings:
Crossroads
Halloween
Roadhouse
The Matrix
Star Wars Ep 1
The Grudge
Cocktail
Star Trek V
The Fifth Element

SaucyRossy

The fact that you have Star Trek V listed so low...destroys the credibility of your opinion with me.

Saucy, its not just FBX that didnt think that STV was very good. I only ranked it a 3.5/5. I certainly wasn't 'blown away' with STV.

I ranked The Grudge a 2.5/5 (the same as 5th Element).

I get the feeling that there is some sort of "unwritten rule" that just because Mike did it, it has to be funny. And some people might not feel comfortable saying that they didn't like it. I have no problem voicing my opinion, if it helps make future rifftrax better.

My point is that we should not be afraid to voice our opinions. And that just what they are..opinions.
You shouldn't discredit someone just because there opinion differs from yours. It doesn't make them any more right or wrong...just different.

Gammer! I was just kidding around....maybe I should of placed one of the smiley faces after I said it though...seriously though your right it's opinions!

I for one didint like the Matrix rifftrax!

And people do express there opinions good and bad abotu the trax Gammer. There are always a few people who dont like something.

Well, since we are in a reviewing and grading mood, I have to add that I watched "The Grudge" by itself today, since I had never seen it before, and I'll give the movie itself a 1.0 out of 10. What a horrible movie? WAS there anything to get? Someone dies in a horrible rage or sorrow.......it repeats itself in that place........

I'm sorry that is absolute garbage and another reason I'm burned out on horror films these days.

No more horror films please Rifftrax!  ;D

Did anyone catch the Uri Geller reference? Mike must still be thinking about the riff off contest!

fav line: Actually, hmm, I can't remember it word for word. The one about Bill Pullman opening a zippered sweater full of Whupass? Something like that.

I didn't enjoy this RiffTrax as much as previous ones, but that may be because I was seeing the movie for the first time and was distracted by attempting to figure out what the hell was going on. What a vague, pointless, stupid film this is.

Sorry Saucy. I didn't mean to come down on you so hard  :-",

Funny, I really hated the Star Trek rifftrax that all here seem to love, but I really enjoyed this one.

my STV viewing experience might of been ruined by constant desyncing and the background music in the movie which was rediculiously louder than the actual talking. Having to toy with it that much ruins the experience, especially if the lines constantly become 1 to 2 seconds out of sync.

I guess to clear things up, this one wasn't bad, but the beginning was more annoying than actually funny. Cocktail and STV both had funny parts, but the key word is "recommend". I.E. the only one I would so far recommend to NOT get is the fifth element. Would I recommend the grudge? I'm not sure. Its hard to tell because after watching too many of these week after week the amount of funny you find them to be decreases. I'm sure if I had gone a whole month without watching any this one might of been funnier to me. Plus I hadn't seen this one before, and mike and kevin kept talking through the explanations.

I guess to be more exact, I dont think i've found a "see mike..." "what kevin?" to be funny.

Personally, I LOVED the "see Kevin....no, what Mike..." comments to be hilarious.   I loved the ones in Star Wars.   I guess that what makes this such a diverse place, everyone finds humour in different spots.   Probably the same for MST3K films as well.

Indeed. While we all (or mostly all) love MST3K , there are surely some episodes that we find funnier than others. Some love Manos, some cannot stand it. Everyone's top 10 list is different. That is called personal opinion and sense of humor. It's normal and healthy in kids your age.
We are all maybe just a bit scared to say we don't absolutley love a particular rifftrax in fear that it may all dry up and go away, like MST3K did. We are still excited to have new material!
I think it is here to stay for a while, and, well it's not Mike's first rodeo. He has been doing this for, wow, a couple of decades now. Do I feel old. My point is that he (and the rest of the gang) can take a little criticism. Hard to be a performer if that is not the case. Go ahead and let it hang out. if you are a fanboy, fan away. If you disliked Star Trek V , then let that be known as well. But one of the most important things you can give someone performing (besides money) is honest feedback.

Of course, if I am wrong, he can just have your ungrateful little asses banned and swept away.
Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.

Yeah the audio levels on STV blow, probably the film that benefited the most from using that voiceover goldwave plugin.
