I'm a newb, I gave it a 10. loads of laughout loud moments for me!
Watch out for snakes!

TheUnabeefer

I watched it at 2 in the morning after a 13 hour work day... I gave it a 10.  My body wanted SO badly to sleep, and I could barely keep my eyes open, but I couldnt turn it off, and I was laughing loud enough to wake my roomate.

I watched it a second time, during the day, and I still give it a 10.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

This one's in the top 5, of all Rifftrax. Please bring Weird Al back for more movies - he and Mike have *excellent* chemistry.

Very funny, especially the beginning and end. Up there with crossroads with "ability to get my girlfriend to laugh". She loved the raptor's silhouette and "unless they learn how to open doors" gags. Weird Al was pretty good too and had some good lines.

The riffing was pretty good but Weird Al was definitely the big draw for me and I'm glad I got this one. I had been thinking recently that I wanted to see this movie again and the riff gave me the perfect excuse. A solid performance.

Great riffs.  But really.  Sit back and watch the CGI scenes of the T-rex attack.  I sat there in 1993 as a youngling and did a mutual HOLY S@#! to my friend when watching it.

I watched it now, and it still looks better than any CGI since for impact.  1993!  This was nuts!

Great movie, great riff..  But seriously, that T-rex scene was something nobody could've seen coming.  Still amazes me.

That's because quite a lot of the T-Rex footage ISN'T cgi... they used an actual 40 foot long animatronic T-Rex for several of the close-up shots, and I believe one of the far-off shots as well (though don't quote me on that, I'm not positive). Some of it is cgi, but a fair amount wasn't.

That's also why the original Walking with Dinosaurs was so awesome, and all of the subsequent installments and incarnations sucked so hard. You can't beat the real thing (or a robotic version thereof). :)

I thought the riffing was great, but I had some synch issues midway through and I had a hard time figuring out which was lagging, the dvd or the track.

My Favorite jokes/riffs:
"that's a great Jeff Goldblum impression"

"You know, Jurassic Park in the light? .....not so frightening"

(Dr. Malcom says "you were so busy with the fact that you could you never stopped to think if you should")
Mike: "The director of Jurassic Park 3 had the same philosophy"

(commenting on the paint job of the JP tour vehicles)
"Did the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles paint these?!"

I gave it a four, assuming that 5 was an average Rifftrax (so like Independence Day in my opinion). If I were to rate it in comparison with all products available in general, I'd have voted a 7 or 8.

Oh and I tried my hardest to view this as another Rifftrax and not be indignant that QuipTracks made one for Jurassic Park first.

Unfortunately I thought Al was wasted in this. He didn't do anything that Bill or Kevin couldn't. Where was all the great "Al screaming"? I was disappointed. Also, it felt thrown together. They had some good concepts for jokes, but they needed to spend some more time perfecting them. Also, this was the first Rifftrax I've seen with jokes that are simply lame. For example: "It will track big with kids and people who like to play God." Eh? That's it? Sorry I just thought that joke was lame.

There were GREAT moments however, accented for me because they were places that I couldn't fill in the QuipTrack. For instance, I always thought that raptor looked hilariously sinister, but I couldn't think of a joke. Al's "Why don't you just give it a handle bar mustache" was great. Also, the "interactive CD-ROM" running gag had me wishing so hard that we'd thought of it first.

It was also amusing to see all the jokes that the Rifftrax shares with the QuipTrack. The ent line as well as the "if this jeep's a rockin'" line were in the QuipTrack to name a couple.

No offense intended here, Quirk, but you REALLY need to let the whole "we did it first" thing go already. The Harry Potter RiffTrax came out TWO DAYS after ours did (notwithstanding the fact that it was public knowledge we were working on it a couple of months before the RiffTrax version was recorded), and we still got over the initial shock and brief flash of "WTF?" in about 10 minutes. "Well, ain't that a kick in the teeth? Okay, moving on then..."

It does not reflect well upon you that your group has been so vocal about the fact that you did a Jurassic Park riff, that you keep referring to it, and that you are now complaining about the quality of the RiffTrax version, comparing the two openly, and giving it a relatively low score in the poll.

Now, it's a bit weird for me to be posting this here, considering Junkyard is the one who started this thread (bad Junkyard, bad! ;)), but you will notice that there is no thread started by or posted in by anyone from Riff Raff Theater complaining about the quality of the HP riff, comparing the two, speaking poorly of the RiffTrax, etc. Frankly, the fact that RiffTrax did a riff of the movie at about the same time as us probably HELPED our exposure, because people were more willing to give us a try since they already had the DVD in hand (and ours was free - always a bonus).

In short, remember that we are here, in their playground, by their graces. We're all fans, or we wouldn't be here. I believe that it is in poor taste to criticize them and openly complain about the fact that they have released a product for a movie that you have a product for, as though there were exclusivity rights involved with making fun of something. And again, please understand that I am saying this out of a genuine interest to see fan riffing be successful. Chris and I absolutely LOVE being involved with riffing, but we also consider it a startup business. We have every intention of offering future riffs for sale through the RiffTrax fan riffing portion of the site, at whatever point in the future that feature is ready (which has been mentioned on the forums a few times in the past).

But that will be in conjunction with RiffTrax, not in competition with them. Because let's face it, if James Whistler and Chris Hanel squared off with Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett anywhere other than in a dark alley, with night vision goggles (and probably we'd need weapons, too), they would kick our asses. That's star power. :)

This was not sarcasm. I rated this as I saw fit. I was not saying that I was trying to suppress my indignancy, or to advertise it real quick. I said it because I knew people would write off my low score as me just being indignant.

And I did NOT really compare theirs to ours, other than to say where theirs was impressive for filling difficult spots.

Oh and I think you may have posted in the wrong thread, as BathTub made this one....

Yeah, I had just finished reading Junkyard's thread and was still thinking of it when I posted in this one. Just amend my comment about "this thread" above to "that thread." ;)

I gave it a 7.  I love Weird Al-I've seen him in concert-and the episode had a few laugh-out-loud moments (the I.C. Weiner Futurama reference) but the rest was kinda so-so.  I'm looking forward the the new Matrix episode, though.

RoninFox

I laughed my ass off at the Futurama reference.  Gotta love reference cycles.  Futurama references MST3k a couple times, Mike returns the favor, and at the perfect moment.
