Fuzzy Necromancer

Anyone else familiar with this quirky, entertaining B-movie release from Metro Goldwyn Mayer?

What do you think of the outta-this-world nekkid space vampires, and  their zombie-like life-sucking spawn?

This movie has all the gratuitous sexual fanservice and nonsensical plotholes of an italian horror movie, only without the gratuitious rape scene, grainyness, or poor pacing. ^_^

If the female vampire was shaped by the one male astronauts desires, then why the heck did were the other two ones nekkid menfolk? Also, why did their coffins cover up so much more, and why didn't the blokes get any dialogue?

Was anybody else just kinda quirkly amused by seeing  the extremely bland male lead being compelled against his will to kiss Patrick Stewart? xD

Fuzzy Necromancer

Yes yes.

*rolls eyes*

BTW, does the stirring orchestral music remind anybody else of the monday night football theme music?

Doctor Who?

Did this movie have Patrick Steward playing a gay man fighting nude Vampires?

If that is the one you are talking about I think i may have seen it once, and yes it was one of the weirdest things ever made.

Fuzzy Necromancer

Yeah. Patrick Stewart doesn't even fight the vampires. He just works as the head doc of a mental institute, winds up with the alien vampire lady's mind/soul inside his body, and kisses the bland male lead.

Plastic Self-Cleaning Duck

Tobe Hooper remakes Dracula (the 1931 movie plot) in space.

Instead of a lawyer, an astronaut.  He travels to a strange place and his mind is taken over by a vampire.

They travel back to his home and by the time they get there everyone but him and the "cargo" are dead...

It was a pretty cool idea until it got to the part where

...and then the movie goes straight to hell until the very end.

Interesting trivia:  Hooper wanted to cast Billy Idol as one of the male vampires who travel with her.  Don't know why it didn't work out.

Confession time.

It's 198-whatever.  Me & my then-gf have been going to movies together for years.  She's a horror fan, I'm not.  I see the preview for Lifeforce with her.  I figure it's a good way to earn points, plus I pontificate to her my long pedantic list of why it's going to be a good movie.  She's not really sure.  I'm sure.  She's really really not sure because she knows horror films and it smells wrong to her.  I am super-duper sure because I know movie geek stuff and I'm awesome.

We see it.

I proceed to never live it down.

Even little-miss-perfectbod couldn't save that dog of a film.

Doctor Who?

He's not gay!  He's possessed in the scene you're talking about, by the female space vampire.

Ok. sorry.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I think i saw it once 5 years ago and I was very tired at the time.

It is an odd movie.

Fuzzy Necromancer

I just noticed this movie is chock full of stinger-worthy dialogue. o.o

QuoteColonel Colin Caine: You mean life after death?
Dr. Hans Fallada: Yes.
Colonel Colin Caine: Is there?
Dr. Hans Fallada: What?
Colonel Colin Caine: Life after death?
Dr. Hans Fallada: Do you really want to know?
Colonel Colin Caine: No.
Dr. Hans Fallada: Well, to answer your question, yes...

QuoteSpace Girl: The web of destiny carries your blood and soul back to the genesis of my lifeform.
(what does that even mean?)

Try saying this with a straight face:
QuoteDr. Hans Fallada: I mean, in a sense we're all vampires. We drain energy from other life forms. The difference is one of degree. That girl was no girl. She's totally alien to this planet and our life form... and totally dangerous.

I loved this film (*waves DVD*). Vampires, Zombies, naked ladies, Patrick Stewart vomiting himself up (only to coagulate into the form of a naked lady), based on the imaginatively-entitled Space Vampires...great stuff.

Fuzzy Necromancer

Totally. =D

Don't forget random pockets of life-force swooshing around and setting things on fire. ^.^

I never did understand what the point of that was. Alright, so the naked lady formed out of blood. So what? She didn't do anything except move her stop-motion animation head, scream, and dissolve into blood again. x.x

Good movie, Tobe's transformation into straight-to-dvd director often saddens me.

- how I read any complaint about MST3k (or Star Wars or Ghostbusters)

Fuzzy Necromancer

Apparently this work actually had four writers (two were uncredited).

So, how am I supposed to find the person responsable for "The web of destiny carries your blood and soul back to the genesis of my lifeform", and lines of that type, and give them a much-deserved whack in the face with a rubber chicken?  :-\

I do not forgive so lightly.

Have her gain 100 pounds or swallow somebody whole and I might be prepared to make reparations.
