everybody ignored my new suggestions.

come on, is there anybody who doesn't like Princess Bride

I can't say I don't like it, so a Princess Bride is also up for the running.  The means we have...

Citizen Cane
Monty Python movies
The Big Lebowski (so far, not many comments on that one)
The Princess Bride, unless Isaac was being serious.

am I missing anything?

Well, that's what you get for not liking anything. Sin City was cool as hell. What's not to like?

Jessica Alba kept her clothes on

Granted.  That was extremely disappointing.  But other than that, what's not to like about Sin City?

Alright, you asked for it.

Sin City is fine if you like horrible, cheesy acting.  It's fine if you like your movies to be violence pilled on top of more violence without really saying anything other than "hey look, violence!".  Sin City is great if you are alright with sacrificing story for the sake of stuff that looks cool.  Sin City is amazing if you've always wanted your gore made sexual by blood that looks like semen.

There were humorous moments.  It looked cool.  But that can not excuse the pointlessness of it all.  My biggest problem with it was the acting.  I couldn't buy into any of the characters besides Mickey Rorke's.  I especially hated the prostitutes.  The idea was ridiculous to begin with, but that shot of all the extras shooting down into the street made me really embarrassed for the film makers.  There, that's what I don't like about Sin City.

I hate all of the movies mentioned here.   ;)

Did you see a winking smiley?

"It stinks! It stinks! It stinks!" "Yes, Mr. Sherman, everything stinks."

Alright.  Usually people defend their harsh accusations, but I suppose that isn't the point of this topic.

So we can only agree on three films so far?  I suppose that makes sense. If we enjoy watching movies being riffed, we wouldn't have much of a problem not liking a film.

You really don't like it? Or are you joking? What's not to like about Apocalypse Now? It's as great as movies can get.

I can't stand Apocalypse Now. It's not that I don't get it, I just don't enjoy watching it. It feels like Brando's Kurtz wrote and directed it after he'd gone batshit up the river. I can't get into those immersive types of films where you're sort of thrust into the mental space of the main character, like Clockwork Orange or Fear And Loathing. In fact, now that I think of it, that's probably why I like so few Kubrick movies. It never occurred to me before. I've learned something about myself.

Are you sure you don't mean "thrust into the mental space of the main character"? Actually, I think that's what makes a lot of these films really good.

Fear and Loathing is the best example of an adaptation of a book that I can think of. It got the tone right, the material was generally faithful (in some instances, creative measures had to be taken in order for it to be filmable), the acting's excellent, great music all the way through, just a damn fine film, and one of Terry Gilliam's best. 8)

Princess Bride - Dislike
Godfather - Dislike
Incredibles - Dislike

Scrape those.

I haven't heard a dislike for Shaun o' the Dead yet, though I have no doubt that this message will spur somebody to one.

While I don't exactly DISlike Citizen Kane, I also don't feel the need to ever see it again.  We watched it for a film class in college, and we just had to analyze the movie to death.  We spent so much time with that damn movie, poring over every excrutiatingly tiny little detail, that I just got sick of Citizen Kane and all the hoopla surrounding it.  It's a good movie, I can recognize that, it's just not a favorite of mine by a long shot.

Yes, I meant "mental" space. Thusly edited.

I agree, Fear And Loathing is an excellent adaptation of the source material, and the performances are all excellent, especially Johnny Depp. I think Hunter even said something to effect of "Depp does a better me than I do." That said, I don't enjoy the movie. It puts you in Duke and Dr. Gonzo's shoes a little too well for me, especially when they start doing downright dirtbag things towards the end.

I always enjoy watching Citizen Kane, and Touch of Evil (Touch of Evil's probably my all-time favorite movie). Try seeing it again, but watch it as a movie. 8)

I'll forgive those who don't like The Incredibles.

But to those who dislike or *gulp* hate The Princess Bride...

"Hello. My name is Kodiak the Juggler. You hate my movie. Prepare to die."

Oh, I've tried.  It doesn't change my opinion of it as:  good movie that does nothing for me.  I do like Touch of Evil, however.

Toy Story has to go on the list. Either of them (I prefer the sequel myself).

How can anyone not like Toy Story?
