Generation X was terrible.  I wish Mike and the guys would riff more stuff like that, or the live action made for tv Justice League, Nick Fury, or  Dr Strange movies.  It worked with Hulk final round.

Superhero movies are big sellers, but I think the guys are a little burnt out on them and want a break. Otherwise they would have gone after Watchmen by now. TV shows, by comparison, are not big sellers. Grey's Anatomy was one of their lowest sellers, so I'm not surprised they don't go after TV shows like The Incredible Hulk that often. There's nothing stopping the iRiffers from going into this territory though. Dark Matter Productions did a riff for the live action Justice League of America TV pilot.

The Holiday Special Riff was the best.  It was never released for sale, so you had to download it from the web.  It was free and (I think) legal.  It would be cool if they did more stuff like that, that you didn't have to go buy or rent.  I bet they'd sell more riffs.

I enjoyed the Star Wars Holiday Special quite a bit myself. It was only shown once on CBS back in 1978 and never officially released on video or DVD. George Lucas hates it and many of the people involved like to pretend it doesn't exist. The only reason the Rifftrax crew were able to do it was because a fan uploaded the special on Google Video. The Google Video version isn't really interfering with sales for the non-existent DVD release, so it kind of exists in a grey area as far as legalities go. If Lucas notices it he'll probably have it taken down. Of course, I assume the main reason that it was successful is because anything with "Star Wars" in the title is a big seller on the Rifftrax site.

Isn't that the purpose of the shorts, VOD movies, and DVDs? I'm sure they'll continue to do them, but they don't sell nearly as well as the MP3 commentaries. I think it's because people would rather buy something they know about then take a chance on an old movie they've never heard of before.

I meant that it would be cool if they found more stuff that was never released for sale to riff, like the holiday special.  Stuff too bad for anyone to ever release on dvd or vhs, so no copyrights are being infringed upon.  No VOD, just an mp3, and tell us which version to download from google video or wherever.  Exactly the way they did it for the holiday special.

Snoop and Michael J Nizzle riffing Jet Li's The One.

Mike: Looks like the graphics in this movie were done by Konami.

Snoop: Fuck Bill O'Reilly.

Mike: Uh yeah. Oh, that must be a special move. I guess someone pressed back back forward kick.

Snoop: Man, fuck Bill O'Reilly.

Mike. OoooooK. Uh, Jason Statham not in a Guy Ritchie film, weird.

Snoop: Fuck Bill O'Reilly.

Well I don't think they'll head down that road too often. Star Wars Holiday Special was kind of a unique case because of the notorious nature of the special and the fact that anything related to "Star Wars" sells well. It's true that no copyrights are infringed upon if they sell a commentary track that syncs up with something posted on Google Video. Some iRiffers are certainly open to that sort of thing. However, videos that have been uploaded to Google without permission of the copyright holders are always subject to being taken down. The last thing they want to do is tell you to buy a commentary track and then say, "Good luck finding this movie, loyal customer."

I believe Seth Macfarlene was a huge fan of MST3k and probably would do it (if hes not to busy making love with a super model on top of a pile of money)

Are you referring to ass pennies? If so, it's from Upright Citizens Brigade.
