Quantum of Solace

During a press conference at Pinewood Studios outside of London, producers of the upcoming James Bond film, revealed that the title is now officially "Quantum of Solace." Rumors about the name had grown after fans noticed that Sony Pictures had bought the domain name quantumofsolace.com. But co-producer Michael Wilson said the name had only been decided "a few days ago."

Wilson added that the title was taken from an original Fleming short story. "It's from a Fleming short story from the compendium For Your Eyes Only. It's uncharacteristic of most of Fleming's work. It's a character study that doesn't involve plots or anything with spies," he explained. "We thought it was an intriguing title that references what's happening to Bond and what's happening to him in this film."

The story takes the super spy (Daniel Craig) out for revenge on a mission that takes him to Austria, Italy and South America.

According to the synopsis, Bond girl Camille, played by Ukrainian-born Olga Kurylenko, leads the secret agent to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), member of a mysterious organisation and a ruthless businessman, seeking to control huge natural resources.

Wilson added that the story stars "literally an hour after the last film left off," as Bond aims to uncover the truth about Vesper, the beauty who betrayed him, and discovers that she had been blackmailed.

"James Bond is after revenge, and Camille is after revenge... They have slightly different goals, but in the end they are going to have to collaborate," Kurylenko explained.

Reported were also shown a minute of footage from the new film, including Bond swinging on a rope after an explosion at an art gallery in Siena, Italy. Another scene showed him meeting M (Judi Dench) outside in the snow.

Asked if "Casino Royale" star Eva Green would appear in "Quantum of Solace," co-producer Barbara Broccoli said: "There are no flashbacks in the film, but she's certainly on Bond's mind."

Filming on the movie has been taking place at Pinewood since November. "Quantum of Solace" is scheduled to hit theaters on November 7th.

Still it's a Bond film.  They could call it Skippy and the Tree-huggers and it would still gross $500 million+ worldwide.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had a different title for us "dumb" Americans, like the first Harry Potter film and book.  They could call it, "Stuff Blows Up".

Quantum of Solace? Sounds like an Arthur C Clarke sci-fi novel.  While I'm not entirely down on the title, I am looking forward to the film.

There are two Bond girls, though isn't Gemma Arterton a little young to be cavorting around with Bond? Perhaps she won't be involved in that way with Bond.....Ha!

WTF does that mean? Hey, has anybody seen my quantum of solace? I was sure I left it on the coffee table, but now it's not there. Now goddamn it, who took my quantum of solace!?

MEANWHILE, the evil Dr. Benny Reichfeld has stolen the government's top secret Solace Quantifier device and is holding the world at ransom with the threat of quantifying everyone's solace and revealing that it is only a mere quantum!

"'Quantum of Solace' continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in 'Casino Royale.'  Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal.
