It sounds crazy, but i have a new idea for a zombie movie:

Okay, we've got sexual zombies(Shivers), vodoo zombies(Zombie Nightmare), Living Dead zombies(Romero & Evil Dead), and Fast Zombies(28 Later series, The Crazies, Dawn remake). But what about:

Technophobic zombies?

Imagine this: Zombies that not only eat you and turn you into one them, but zombies that will also smash & destroy technological objects.

Imagine, humans turning into "raging Amishes" that will destroy cars, buses, televisions, computers, iPods and etc.

Just imagine: You're in Time Square, and you see zombies destroying cars, ripping off human flesh inside buses, climbing buildings just to destroy giant telescreens, and zombies chasing cars and jumping into helicopters just to destroy them. You see a zombified girl smashing her own iPod, and a zombie destroying laptops and coffee-making machines in a coffee shop. You see zombies chasing normal humans who aren't destroying any of their precious electronic gifts, and you see US soldiers becoming zombies after bitten and destroying their own weapons and Humvees.

What do you guys think about that? I feel like making this type of zombie film because i wanna show that one day, humans will rebel against technology, and that they will devolve themselves back into pre-Industrial Revolution era. After all, we may turn into the Amish, just like the Family in The Omega Man.

If it was made too obvious and showy, so that it looked like the director was trying to bludgeon you with some sort of half assed social message, then no, it wouldn't work. It would be so stupid, Asylum would turn their noses at it.
However....
A zombie plaugue without the promise of loot for the survivors? Carrying a weapon will make the zombies angrier?
It DOES have some potential, actually. But how would you explain/justify it?

Plastic Self-Cleaning Duck

Those thieves who stole the idea for The Matrix will have this out in a year or two....

Compound

Wasn't that the plot of Cell? Evil cell phones turn humans into zombies?

I like it.

But why did you post it on a message board? This way, you can bet that it will NEVER be produced. ???

Quote from: Imrahil on January 13, 2008, 04:13:56 PMIt's his secret plan to now produce the movie himself, having posted it first to protect himself from future intellectual theft.  A rather bold move.

It wouldn't hold up in court. The only way to not have your writing ripped off is to have the copyright registered. Posting something on a message board simply makes it easier for someone to rip you off.

I like this idea. But you know me. I'm unbiased against any type of zombie.

I always thought it would be sweet to have a movie that had all types of zombies in it. Maybe a plague breaks out and typically infects and turns folks into zombies. In order to stop them, scientists find a way to turn already dead people into zombies using technology to fight the viral zombies. It doesn't work. So a bunch of voodoo folks decide maybe black magic will work and create intelligent, supernatural zombies to fight both the viral and the technological zombies. That doesn't work either when the voodoo zombies realize that they'll just be destroyed once they do their job, so they revolt and lead the massive zombie army comprised of the 3 types.

So then, some aliens spy on Earth and wonder if they can't have a piece of the pie. They use their alien tech to raise humans from the dead to take out the zombie army once it eradicates humanity so they can take the planet (better to use zombies as tools since they'd get eaten the moment they land otherwise). This ends up not working either. Which type of zombie will win? Can humanity survive such a huge onslaught from all sides? Will the aliens succeed in taking over Earth once living humans are all turned into zombies? Should the aliens and humans team up?

I think I wet myself thinking all that up. Oh, to have a movie budget and directing experience!

Do you take "ass" lessons, Isaac? Or are you just naturally predisposed to be the MOST UNPLEASANT BEING possible in every response? I know it's the internet and everything, but christ you come off as a tool most of the time.

I was not being an ass. That is legitimate advice that you would give to anybody who is considering going into the film industry. The only way to gain experience in the area of filmmaking/direction is to make a film. This could be anything from a five-minute short starring yourself, or a feature film starring local actors and produced using a small raised budget and a script that's perfect for a small-scale feature. (Though it is advisable to start with the short films first.) What is your problem?

Isaac, you DID say it a bit harshly.
Imrahil, he didn't say it harshly enough to be called an ass for it.

There really is no more to say abou the situation, and you both will have chances to have the last word in any of the pre- exsisting argumentitive threads.

Meanwhile, can we get back to figuring out new ideas for Zombie movies?

In the process of researching my paper on classic movie monsters in the 70's.... I'm sorry to say that it's not. I'll have to look through the Movie Monster Guide again to get a couple of titles.

This will be the only time I ever say this.

I agree with Isaac.

I saw sometime last year that there's a zombie porno.  That's a new type of zombie movie.

I think I'd rather watch zombies trying to eat people, not...you know....with them.

RE: Directing experience (not quoted because I don't want to kickstart an argument here): If I wanted to start small, I'd settle for a camcorder/youtube five minute thing, sure. However, my idea is big! I'd rather write a screenplay  and, assuming it became a reality, watch as people do all the work for me!  ;D  Of course, starting small is how B-movie directors get made. Hmmmm.....*gears turn*
