This is only my 3rd movie with the player so maybe it's a rookie mistake, but when I play 300, the pause button is disabled, so if I need to stop and do something it becomes inconvenient to keep restarting it.

If necessary, my computer stats are:

  5.2 Total Memory  : 2046 Mb
  5.3 Free Memory   : 987 Mb

  5.5 Free Disk     : 305.72 Gb
5.6 System Up Time: 1 hour, 39 minutes, 6 seconds
  5.7 Processor     : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+
  5.8 Display Mode  : 1280 x 1024, 32 bit
  5.9 Display DPI   : 96
  5.10 Video Card   : Radeon X1650 Series (driver 8.421.0.0 - RAM 512 MB)
  5.11 Printer      : Brother HL-2040 series (driver 3.24)

Any ideas?

I've got the same problem.    >:(  But I did find a work around:

Go to "root menu" when you need to pause.  This will take you to the movie's main menu.  When you're ready to continue, select "Play Movie" and it will resume.  It's annoying, but it seems to be the only way.
...but one problem with this I just now discovered while typing this:  If you wait too long, the movie will automatically resume, so you'll want to go to another menu, such as the Language menu.

Hey, Rifftrax player developers:  If you want your DVD playing software to be so awesome that I'll want to use it even when NOT watching Rifftrax, you should allow the navigation controls to always work, even when the DVD tries to override them.  Then I can fast forward through those damned 10 minutes of previews which some DVD distributors want to force me to watch every bloody time I insert their   :grr:@%$#! :grr: DVD into a player.  (I can't watch the live-action "Initial D" without getting pissed off about that.)  I thought the whole point of moving from a tape cassette medium to a compact disk was so that we could skip through content faster...

Selling point, but never the real reason.   ;D

I tried this method, but when I clicked on "Play Movie", the film resumed where I had left off, but the riff started over from the beginning of the chapter.  I hope whatever issue is causing this can be fixed before it affects any other movies.

Thanks for posting this. I just bought the RiffTrax for 300, and it was my first time using the player. I can't seem to pause normally either, and my track is out of synch, and parts of the DVD audio are inaudible despite ramping (or whatever its called) being disabled and DVD volume being maxed.

I was listening to the Riff intro and my DVD started right at or near the end, so maybe that had something to do with the synching, so I'll try again.
Update: No, I restarted and it is still out of synch. I'll just watch this one the old fashioned way.

I think this will be a great tool once they iron the kinks out a bit.

i'm also experiencing some problems with the 300 rifftrax.  I have the 2disc special edition version, and whenever i get to the menu screen and press "play movie", the audio for the film and the commentary start fine, but the display only shows the menu screen.  So i end up hearing this presumably perfectly synced film and commentary audio but all i see is the menu screen.  anybody else get this?
